These two are my first favorite couple of the family. I love how sweet they are together. I know u felt like ur life is under the microscope but I loved watching Derrick have that song made for u when he asked u to marry him. I am asking for your book for Christmas. I feel like I grew up under similar situation. It’s very upsetting but it’s ok now.

I empathize with Jill and the entire family because in the years the show was popular, I was a young adult but thought about how intrusive a reality show was for the children. I do think that Jill is capitalizing on the popularity and gaining from it financial which is a bit contradictory.

The problem with a lot of religions is they pick out Bible verses to suit their agenda without considering the context of the whole Bible. It does say honor your parents but it also says when getting married the couple should leave their parents and cling to one another. Good interview!

Some how I knew it would take Jinger and Jill, to break this horrible situation they grew up into. I was glad Jinger, moved away to California and married her husband. The same for Jill and Derek. I’m proud of these women.

Derrick how is your stomach issues. Have you tried a nutritionist?

Derek impressed me when he said that they ‘decide” to love each other everyday in their marriage. Love is a decision not a feeling. And marriage is a lot of work and takes commitment and dedication to keep on track. God bless these young people for loving God and Gods word and using that to grow stronger together and build a family of their own. Everyone has struggles, it’s how you choose to deal with those challenges that’s important. Their parents should be very proud.

I don’t think it’s so much about if she should choose her parents or choose her husband I think it was more choose her parents or choose her little family (herself her husband and her children)

They sound like they have some legal grounds for deceptive practices about what happened. Don't know details but seeking legal advice might of been a good idea, at the time this happened. Maybe they did but haven't heard it mentioned.

Gothard himself was Narcissistic, as you can see the following of Narcissistic men;ie: her dad Jim Bob and Brother Josh, more than likely the other brothers due to the control and manipulation of the women being treated as lesser and undervalued. I feel horrible for Ana having to raise 7 kids under this patriarchy. My hope is she can figure things out during this”space” and move forward in a positive way for herself and children. Truly heart wrenching. Positives for Jinger & Jill to be able to experience a new world with new relationships.💝🙏

It’s interesting the similarities between the IBLP and fundamentalist Mormons. They for example have the law of one above another which is similar to the umbrella of authority. Anyway kudos to Jill for speaking out.

I know that pressure, when you're married and have a husband who is your new beloved friend for life and lead but parents don't let you leave and cleave to husband.

I'm glad Derrick lets her talk and platforms her because it's her story. He is such a good husband. I notice her speech patterns and manner of speaking has really changed. This might seem small, but I study this type of thing, so I tend to notice. People will often mirror and mimic language and speech choices of in-groups, so the fact that she is moving away from that and speaks in her own way now, not using the cult jargon and using her own style of inflection shows how much work she has done inside.

Jim Bob is scum. I cannot wrap my head around how Anna is allowed to keep her kids around him. It used to churn my stomach when they kissed on the program. It seemed desperate and somehow slimy.

As a mother who raised children in a very similar environment (not as bad, but bad enough) I would love to know who her therapist is, to know who he/she might refer me to in my area.

God bless this couple. Lord, put a hedge of protection around them and their family. I can tell their religious sect is wrong because even the Bible says when you get married to leave your parents and cleave to your spouse.

I think that she loves her family, and both her and Jinger want to be together with but in a more equal respectful way towards each other. I do want to say that none of us as parents are perfect, we can only do the best we can on what we know at the time. I do pray that some kind of reconciliation can happen for a better future and more real relationship on personal levels. Jim Bob controls out of fear which is sad. I will pray for him because I think he loves his kids and to be honest if he was them and them him, he be worse. He not put up with what he is doing to them. Hope God opens his heart to changes and they can start fresh, it will free him. must be miserable to live in that fear-based control even of oneself. Jesus came to set us free, not to be entangled with laws and rules. Let him and his word do the works in people's lives. Not rules made by man. Peace!

Jim Bob didn’t realize what he was up against with his son in law! So glad Derick wasn’t able to be manipulated and controlled and could see what was going on.

Thankfully Jill ended up with a good man. I remember when Jill and Derek were going through their courtship period many Duggar supporters did not like Derek claiming he played at going along with Jom Bob's rules but did not seem to really be into them. This may well have been that while he seemed to come from a very mond controlling family such as Jill was living in he was also being exposed to more real world then he had. I think the big turn around was when he announced he was headed to law school, something destined to let him think for himself. Yeah he fell afoul of far left when he decided to leverage and speak out against Jazz and what was being done with her when TMZ and Hollywood expected reality programs to either support even the other most outrageous ones, or remain silent, and when his silence was used to make it appear he was in support he had the right to exercise his freedom of speech and say how he did feel. I wonder now, as we see a different side to what Jazz's mother may have been using her child for, and the current suffering and confusion Jazz is going through, perhaps we should have at least listened to what he hadvto say whether we agreed or not.

Unlike first showing off access to being her own person by wearing clothing that Jim Bob never permitted as her sisters did to show freedom, because clothing probably does not matter, Jill and Derek have seemed more set on finding a path that clarified truths to them and fought for those things they deserved. Derek at least turned out to not be the controlling man in Jill's life, like her father had been, seeing her as something he owned, something that enticed and ruined Josh, instead of the victim she was along with 5 others, a slave to her mothers needs for nannies and caretakers for one after another baby she delievered. Derek has given her the space to do watch she needed to to adjust to what she grew up with and decide if she was fairly raised or treated wrongly.

She sounds very immature. I can clearly see her husband came in to divide her from her family. She is sooo over the top. Yes it’s called honor you father and mother.

IBLP is not cult like practices. Wow it says where her heart is. She is in a bad place. Her mother never said it was a sin to use birth control, her mother always said it was her choice not that it was a sin.

I could care less about reading the book. She seriously turned against her parents. Even if you have difficulty and different opinions you don’t do that to your parents.
