But how do you cut out a small clip and re-record that section, or move parts around? If I try to record from the beginning, it won't let me. It just starts recording at the end of what I've already done. I've always used GarageBand but a new client needs better audio quality, so I'm trying to figure out Audacity.

Audacity not givin me the option to use my mic. When I go to "audio settings" on Audacity it just say it's using my MacBook Pro speakers n not my microphone n it's not giving me the option to select it. You know wassup wit this??

hey buddy any idea whats going on with my audacity? when i hit record its picking up at the end of instrumental track versus when i hit Tracks- Add New then Mono Track- typically once you do this and hit record it will allow you to do the vocals over the music- however mine isnt starting from the beginning , EVERY TIME its recording from the end of the instrumental track. Im lost on this one and just starting using Audacity since my pro tools subscription ran out.

Hello Mike, just watched your Audacity Tutorial For Beginners and found it very informative. I've use Audacity mainly for recording DJ mixes, my livestreaming shows and audio file conversions. Just VERY basic use but I really would like to know about editing my mixes and correcting mistakes. Do you have a video specific to this subject?

What a great tutorial! I've been using other software and websites, but your tutorial has been great and so easy to use. I do have a question...on my end, I have no sound when I attempt to record. I hear sound when I open a saved recording. Don't know what the problem may be. BTW, I use a Chromebook. Any ideas/suggestions?

Audacity demystified in minutes. Excellent and appreciated. I'm baby-steps into content creation prioritizing the audio part (recorder/Mixpre, microphones et al) i.e. topics like working with time-sync'ed audio/video sequences, how to export audio and use with the recorded video sequences (ProRes) are not something I have seen much about in any hands-on video. Just a suggestion .. 🙂

Is the focusrite USB audio interface strictly necessary? I'm currently using a Blue Yeti mic with USB connection that goes straight into my laptop, with the unfortunate side effect of not allowing audio playback without disconnecting it.

I want to record backing tracks internally and end up being one type of file instead of changing players at playback, is that possible

How do I delete/cut a section?

I know that the question I have isn’t covered in this video, but I swear it was in one of your videos and I can’t find what I’m looking for now. I’m to the point of tears frustrated. I’m trying to select, copy, and paste a half second guitar chord right next to where it is in the song. Goal: an extra half second of pause to get a breath before singing the next line. I can select. (90%of the time Audacity automatically makes it a damned loop). I can isolate. I know the cut, copy, and paste shortcuts. Even with it isolated, I can’t get it to let me paste. When I select where I want to paste what I just copied, the stupid song starts playing. If I try to insert in front of the original, I get repetitive loop. If I try to paste after, it just starts playing the song from that point and won’t let me do anything but pause or stop. Help?

I have a well recorded cassette some original songs from years back and I want to split or 'solo' acoustic guitar' lead vocal and drums to slightly tweak them. They are transferred onto a USB stick and now in my DAW. DO you know if Audacity can do this? Thanks Mike smashing channel btw!
