This whole video seems like a great excuse to downsize! Even going down to a 2,000 square foot home would be less to manage and give you room to breathe. Not saying it’d be a simple decision, but wow, I couldn’t imagine managing that much as one woman!

I think you may fund the flylady system is for the people who are STRUGGLING to maintain their homes and not for the perfectionists of this world, irrelevant of how big the accommodation. Also, it works for people who have limited ability.
Although I'm sure you are a really lovely person, you come across as none if the above. You appear to have everything in check. ❤

How old are your kids? Is your husband home in the evening during the week? There's no reason you should do this all entirely yourself!

Yikes! 20 hours of cleaning! 😮 We are a family of 11 and people will tell us “you need a bigger house” that’s why I always say “No thank you, a bigger house means way more cleaning” I’d rather have less stuff and live comfortably in a small house than do 20 hours of cleaning a week. 😬

OK.... If you were paying for your house to be cleaned ... and it took several ladies EIGHT HOURS to do that, and could afford to do that, how does justify you doing a "house cleaning" video...for normal folks... with your very, very large house? Who are you to give cleaning advice or judge the two systems?

Your house must be massive! My family home was 5 bedroom, 3 bathroom including spa, separate lounge, dining, kitchen and laundry and the cleaner only did like 2-3 hours per week 😮 I’m sad about having to leave my apartment which takes like 45 minutes 😅🥲

Why aren't your children doing their own rooms, putting their stuff where it belongs, making beds, putting away cloth etc? Children learn that there is work in keeping a home.

Every time I get gas, I'll toss all trash in my car while my tank is filling up.

My understanding is Fly Lady is a guide. It would be understood that any system you use you need to modify any system to meet your needs. Hard to see where you would think otherwise.

Thank you for the affirmation. I've tried many of these kinds of systems that have you cleaning 15 minutes to 1 hour a day and it feels like failure because there's no way that's enough. if I don't clean 2-3 hours a day, my house is an absolute mess. And that's just a surface clean. Granted I have two small children and if I didn't, 1 hour a day would probably be enough for a deep clean, but it just isn't in my current situation.

So do you only do one zone cleaning every Saturday or multiple ones?

I liked you until you said you needed 8 hours with multiple people to "surface clean" your house How BIG is your house or how much mess do you leave ?

Flylady wasn't meant for someone like you who is a competent house keeper. It's for people like I used to be who from the mental trauma of parents and then spouses screaming about the cleaning are too overwhelmed to formulate a plan. If your room only gets deep cleaned once every 8 weeks in addition to weekly HBH tasks, that is way better than the never it got cleaned when all the available cleaning time was spent having a panic attack.

clever to strech things to a 2 week round. nice. for me - with a small appartement - I would say, I have no excuse no to complete at least half of the monthly tasks :-D

ok. not sure, how old your children are, but for me, this really sounds like you need assitance still. I admire, if you can do it without

the list of detailed cleaning - isn't it like many of the tasks are suggestions and to switch around, when needed and such? I am a bit confused, because, that is how I understood it. e.g. you don't need to fertilized your plants weekly

I pause now at min11 because the question that comes up is, when you have such a huge house, how come, you compare the tasks e.g. with weekly home blessing to be done by just one person. I mean, why aren't there other people in your home helping you? that is a bit weired for me. of course, my assumption is, if somebody does have a huge house and many roomes are lived in then there might be others in this household. isn't it?

I understand you have a much larger house but it kinda sounds like you are looking for perfection and don't mind spending hours cleaning but for me and many others using the flylady system have very busy lives and are trying to fit cleaning in without getting overwhelmed and feeling like a failure and don't have hours to clean. Not getting done or looking for perfection allows you to not have so much pressure to get finished and do it perfectly but know that all of your effort no matter how small blesses your home and family. It sounds like you are not ok with that and need to have everything done and clean in a certain way for you to feel satisfied with your amount of cleaning and need for things to be done just so to feel good about your cleaning. Which if that is what works for you and you have the hours than great but I think flylady and other cleaning systems are sort of designed to help the many who aren't super focused, organized, and motivated to (or have the time)clean for hours everyday or try to do it all in one day. I do well to keep up with the basics most of the time and this system helps me to fit in 15 to 30 min to get some decluttering and deeper cleans I normally wouldn't have time for.

Your system seems like too much work and random and haphazard. Fly lady is way more manageable!!

I think you must have a HUGE house or your cleaning lady and her friends were probably partying.

It really sounds like you were getting ripped off by your cleaning service. 8 hours just to surface clean, and with that many people??? Were you physically there watching them? Because I'd bet that they weren't working the whole time. What square footage is your house?? Mine is about 1700 square feet and by myself, I can surface clean it ALL in 3 hours MAX (including the kids rooms.)

These are certainly good sources but I found Clean My Space the answer to good instructions to clean. She owns a cleaning service and her methods are very orderly and no nonsense.

This is exactly what I’ve been trying to develop. I literally told my husband yesterday that I was going to combine fly lady and clean mama. This was great!

I do appreciate that you have combined two systems to make it your own. I just started watching "The Fly Lady" and stumbled across "Clean Mama" within 24 hours. I like the simple 5 tasks to complete daily. I have a much smaller house after downsizing about 20 years ago. We are empty nesters and we still have too much house. My goal is to finish decluttering this year. I've been attempting during last year and got discouraged. There is plenty to keep me busy. Thanks for sharing.

You mention your block schedule, but I don't see a link for that. Do you have a video about that? I just moved into a new house that is double the size of our old one and am modifying Flylady as well for that reason, but I also need to make a block schedule and would love to see how yours works.

I watched your video about Flylady 101 and I got the impression that you had trouble with motivation to clean. After watching this video, I think you are obsessed with cleaning and you live in a mansion. I really can't relate but I appreciate your attention to detail and sharing your routines. Thanks.

I know this video is old but I just found 😃……….I love the advice to combine both systems.
I am new to them both so it’s a good time to see what will work for me. My kids are right at middle school age ,but we home school and I’m the main teacher ,so the daily attention they may need equates to having smaller toddlers and babies. We also own our own business ,that requires travel, and there really is “no set schedule. ” I may go from being home all week to traveling all week. I’m anxious to get the daily routines ironed out and work in the 15 min and 1 hour zones. I’m a visual learner so thanks so much for expounding on both systems in list form!

I combined fly lady, clean mama, and a cleaning schedule I found during lockdown into a system that worked for me.

And…..what are your kids doing? Learn about the Montessori system and you don’t have to work so much. It’s time consuming to teach children but it’s worthy
