The problem is that it is tied to your job and it shouldn't be in any way. The other problem is that hospitals treat doctors like salesman and infer their unprofessional judgement onto a 8 years in training person. No corporation should dictate the decisions that a professional should make. That is what they worked all those years to have. A keen eye for judgement. Otherwise, why have doctors and nurses. Instead the legal system decided that they legally will control doctors too with the legal tax with malpractice insurance. Doctors in the US are converging to the salary of Canada after all the costs are associated. Unless you are an anesthesiologist then you make bank. I am seeing the drop in professionalism in doctors and lawyers. The legal system in the US costs as much if not more and is slower than anything. If it was healthcare, people would be dead if they had a cut. There would be waiting rooms just for waiting rooms. It is flawed and we need to get back to professionalism and systemically trusting professionals like doctors.

Its just not true. If you are poor in US you get medical treatment for free. Just contact Health Resources Services Administration or even show up at the hospital and show them your paycheck stub and you will get free or affordable healthcare. This is a complete leftist fantasy which I believed for a decade. Now with Obama care, poor and low middle class need to pay a bit each month (between 5-50 USD) but health insurance increased for middle class and for rich.

This is a documentary, but it gets something wrong: this has always been the simple answer pushed by the elite via our government. Obama and the ACA are just the more recent excuses. They've been undermining everything with the excuses of "austerity" and general sentiments of people being undeserving since Reagan.

Capitalist cultists try to push the "Canada and all those other countries with nationalized healthcare have long wait times! You should have the RIGHT to pay an extra $5,000 dollars to get seen faster! Oh, how terrible it is to have this free healthcare when we could pay more than most can afford to get it faster!" When you push back against that mind rot with logic (a modest wait time is infinitely "more healthcare" than "no healthcare" because you can't afford it at all), they act like YOU'RE the crazy one! That's how deep the brainwashing goes. It's not just the government and their capitalist puppet masters. It's a huge swathe of the public, too.

I still find it funny how some of the wealthiest nations have to debate this and if they managed to get universal healthcare, they even named it as if it was something special (Like Obamacare, Medicare or NHS).

In my country, we simply call it healthcare. Because nobody even had the weird idea to not make it universal.

well obamacare said lets make it so that insurance companies cant discriminate against people who have a pre existing condition, if you can buy your policy after the accident and get coverage for the same price, i mean no one would buy insurance anyway youd just wait till after you had the accident, so what the republicans tried to do was have thier cake and eat it too, they said to the voters were gunna keep the ban on pre existing conditions but get rid of the mandates, .. you wonder why insurance companies are losing all this money.
