One of games aren’t working and I contacted ps support and tried everything but now my only option to solve the problem is to back up and then restore my ps5. Did I just buy a 2TB Seagate external hard drive to save all my data for it not to work? Need help/answers. Idk what specific hard drive to use in order to properly backup my ps5.

Just got my PS5 last Friday and I'm outright loving it. I'm planning on getting one of these extended storage devices next month because I'm planning on reinstalling most of my PS4 games on there while still saving some space for future PS5 games. I say most of them because I already have a few of them nicely playable on my Xbox One which my brother lent to me a few years back.

I know that PS5 games won't play from the drive and need to be re-instated onto the console itself but with PS4 games, it definitely should be fine. As long as it's quick, easy and safe, I won't have much of an issue, Besides, even if I run out of room for the drive I plan to get, I can always get another one in the future only this time it's primarily for PS5 titles.

You have to plug it in the back you can't plug it in the front.

Short version it does work but you can only store PS5 games and play your PS4 games off it I have one that's just a standard hd not made for playstation

I’m glad I saw this video. I was worried I might have wasted money on buying a non PS4 external hard drive. The one I picked up looks just like the one you have in the video. It’s a Seagate 2TB without the PS logo.

Litteraly got a seagate 2tb external hard drive then i plug it in i go to my storage then go on USB extended storage and it dosent even recognize it. What am i doing wrong? This thing is straight f*ckin trash my guy

Heheh most of my games are still ps4 games that went on sale. I'm just happy that they run at 60 fps. Like final fantasy 15, horizon forbidden west etc.

Only saves ps4 games from ps5 console but not ps5 games

My ps5 kept getting that error about removing the hdd improperly and needing to repair it. Every time I would turn off the system or use rest mode. (I never unplugged it) Now it won’t read the external at all. Plugged it into my ps4, nothing. Plugged into my lap top, nothing. Even tried a new cable.

Is my external drive completely dead? Is there anything that can fix this?

Ion like how we can’t make the tb drive the primary storage installation spot/ only ps4 games can be the main storage for the tb

it doesn’t let me move my ps5 to my external hard drive it only lets me put ps4 games on the external hard drive storage so my ps5 games are on console storage so im not sure if it’s possible or am i doing something wrong , please help .

you can store the PS5 games on it, just not play from it. you need to copy them back on the ps5 drive... so easy
