1. Emperor is alive and aware and will never allow it
2. The Machine God is a C'tan that would swallow the Mechanicus whole should he reawaken
A mankind victory will be a renaissance of the mankind's golden age and creation of the webway

I don't think the Mechanicus would win over the Imperium as a whole, especially not with The God Emperor able to bring his undivided attention upon them.
A victory for the imperium would mean vast rediscovery and reassessment of what was needed to survive. Humanity, out the other end, would emerge into a world where technology can be rediscovered (AI aside, of course). Where the rites and rituals of the mechanicus can give way to the proper understanding of the Mechanicum and the generalized understanding of technology again, as mankind turns its eye toward prosperity and away from survival. The entire reason anything has fallen as far as it has is that man has been unable to be at peace for long enough to consolidate. It would take a few thousand years of discemination, generations of lives slowly bettered through renewed understanding, and yes, definitely some civil skirmishes, but the Emperor protects, and I do not see a world where an imperium at peace fails to become better.

Why do people always waste time on Tau. Just act as if they did not exist and maybe they are ultimately removed.

Consider this in the scenarios that do kill the emperor. Won't he be reborn if he was truely killed and cause a different outcome? Like how would all the races deal with this huge threat that they unleashed?

According to the novel “Eye of Terror”, a Greater Daemon of Tzeentch (*the* Greater Daemon, probably) reveals that to defeat Chaos, the Emperor’s body has to die as his soul is bound to and being held back by the Golden Throne.

If Chaos won and the Golden Throne was destroyed, the Emperor would then be free to destroy the Ruinous Powers. However, there would be no more Astronomicon Beacon and the Imperium would instantly collapse due to well, no more logistics. Ships, wouldn’t navigate the warp, Hive worlds would be cut off from Agriworlds, armies would be going nowhere… trillions of humans would die of starvation or by xenos… which in turn would wipe out the main source of psychic fuel for the Warp.


tl;dr: Total victory is not in the interests of either Chaos or the Imperium and whenever one faction gets too much of the upper hand… Tzeentch will do some ✨magical backstabbing✨ and the status quo of eternal war is maintained.

I think you are to generous with the Empire.
The second there is no existential threat left the empire will crumble in infighting and turn into an eternal civil war.
Govonours will claim independens from Tera.
The sisters of battle will turn against the space marines in and battle over Ideology.
The ad mech will support every side in exchange for power, resources, menpower, knowlege etc.
And the Admech will turn into infighting as well. There is nonway a faction in which every members thinks he is the smartes will act as a union.

No matter who controls the galaxy, it would spawn a new chaos God, and the cycle of War would repeat. We had a glimpse of such a future with the Aeldar creating Slaneesh, it's easy to assume history would repeat itself if the imperium controlled the Galaxy or any Xeno. Apart from Tyranids, they would most likley starve to death

Doesn't Tau victory have the problem that AI will likely rise up against them, possibly by getting tainted by the remnants of chaos.

Something idea of the Tau attempting to assimilate the Necron dynasties is immensely funny to me. Best of luck to them pushing that necrodermis boulder up that blackstone mountain…

Personally, I don't buy that the Mechanicus as a whole would dogmatically stick to only using STCs and want to turn everything into one big machine. Sure, unless Big E returns in a big way they'll end up as the dominant human faction on account of being the ones in charge of basically all technology in the Imperium. But the drive to innovate would eventually take root among enough of the priesthood to trigger another schism, and there are those weirdo Biologis guys who believe that flesh and blood bodies are wonderous machines in their own right. Mars will rise to dominance, only to fall to factional infighting. I could even see particularly insane Techpriests resorting to resurrecting Ork and Tyranid bioforms from extinction to serve in their faction's fighting forces, or perhaps engineering new and wonderful species to use as living weapons against their foes.

But yeah, T'au winning is probably the best outcome for everyone.

Yes it will be overlord version of it but at least, they will have way better quality of life and progress of technology and understanding.
This is infinitely better. Yes there will be loss of freedom, destruction of culture and autonomy but this is far better fate than anything else in 40k galaxy

Really it's just entropy every which way. Even the good guy factions winning isn't really a win for an intelligent being. Worse in fact. A perpetual boot on the neck of Tau or Imperium would be worse than the silent sigh of Tyranid, electric screams of Necron madness, or hyper violent quasar clashes of the orks.

In a way none could win physically anyway. Given enough time, it all just repeats. The reason Slaanesh became a thing, is because the Eldar at one point almost won. All it would mean is more warp if one of the more mortal factions win.

Chaos winning really you wouldn't even know the difference. It already won as it is every thought, every feeling.

I love the fact that chaos winning means everybody if f*cked...... Except the orks who are still having a blast just like now 🤣😂
