For some reason I had to add
rb.freezeRotation = true;
To the onCollision method. My dart kept bouncing off the circle.
For those of you struggling at about the 30-minute mark with the dart sticking to the circle, I may have a super simple solution to your problem. After pulling my hair out for over an hour attempting to find a solution to this problem, I happened to notice that my dart wasn't perfectly aligned with my circle. You have to make sure that your dart hits the circle dead-on, so basically ensure that your dart's transform position in the inspector is set to -5, 0, 0. For me, my dart's y-position was just barely over 0 and that's all it took for the dart not to stick. Anyways, I hope this helps someone!

ОтветитьI'm really stuck i have followed the tutorial 2 or 3 time now up to the 22.32 mark and i keep getting stuck at the part were you have to generate a field for _rotationSpeed. i dont get the red wiggly line underneath the word nor does pressing Alt and Enter do anything . i am a complete beginner to doing this kind of stuff so any help i would be grateful

ОтветитьCan anyone explain why I'm not getting the same result from Alt+Enter on the "_rotationSpeed"? I'm using VS. I know VS has the Ctrl+ "." options but I don't see anything similar to what is shown in the video, unfortunately. alt+ Enter also doesn't seem to show anything similar. Another issue I am seeing is that the color coding in VS for me is different. I don't see "MonoBehaviour" highlighted the same color as "Spin" and "Time" is not highlighted. In solution explorere I do not have the "Assembly.CSharp" and "Assembly.CSharp/Player" I assume that's 'ok'.
Ответитьmy darts are doing weird stuff so they work exactly like yours but when they turn with the circle the darts kinda turn and start going crazy/bugging out... cant understand why mine does it but yours dont :S

Ответитьi didnt get private float _rotationSpeed i got private int _rotationSpeed....so is this the same or what ? :S tried to play and it gives me an error... jesus man these videos are very frustrating :S EDIT: i figured out how to fix the issue tho...

ОтветитьJason, what's your opinion and/or observations on bloat in Unity? Just making a new game results in 31, 794 files occupying 1.52 GB of disk space, according to File Explorer > Properties. That's seems a bit much for a 2D game with no content yet. Also, should all that go into source control?

ОтветитьJason, thanks for the awesome tutorial! After finishing this video I proceeded to make my first game where bombs (basically the darts orientated the other way) fall from the top of the camera. A counter increments the more you dodge. I couldn't have done it without this vid.

That being said, when an arrow hits the rotating target after approximately 3 revolutions the arrow begins to lean a bit and if left will become exaggerated to the point of laying on its side. Does this have anything to do with the arrow when striking the target not hitting it center?

ОтветитьHere is something a bit strange, throwing this together on version 2021.3.11f1 produced a different physics result when the dart hit the circle. It would stick momentarily, then the angular momentum of the circle would kind of separate it...even with iskinematic set to true. I updated to the most recent Unity version, started it again and the results are the same as yours. How odd. I wonder if it is a physics difference, or a difference in the way SetParent() works.

ОтветитьPlease please please switch your VS to dark mode because it burns the eyes even more when your unity is dark and your VS is white and switching between these 2 creates a flashlight when switching to white. This will increase the quality of your video !

I see you don't like 'private' keyword and consider it's redundant. But even if it's not required as class members are private by default I'd suggest to use it explicitly. Or at least not omit this modifier in tutorials for beginners. Yes, it's an addition word but explicit is always better than implicit.
