If I'm correct they very rarely pay for anything in their collection. So don't think you can sell them an item you may have. If it's important enough they'll just take it from you using laws.

99% of specimens will never be seen by the public and the academic professional class want to make it illegal for anyone to own a fossil. Only they the anointed ones get to see, handle and enjoy fossils! F*ck them!
