Why Your Instagram Engagement Is Down (Instagram 2024 Algorithm Updates)

i run a meme page all by myself that all of a sudden blew up out of no where. for a while i would get likes and views no problem and i thought it was funny but there would be times id get demotivated to post daily and i would skip a few days and engagement would go down. however last week i became sick and wasnt able to post much for a while. i check my stats everyday and my engagement has never been this low. ive tried everything im posting once daily again but nothing seems to work. its so frustrating that i cant get back to where i was before.

My views dropped Suddenly from like constant 15-20 K to 2 k 🥹 i really dont know why and its making me Crazy. Should i stop and wait for a few days or just Go on? I post reels daily

AMAZING tips! I recently changed my niche completely and deleted all my post. Before posting new niche content, Would it be best to create a branch new fresh IG account, or remove all current followers and start fresh that way? Do older accounts get less engagement? Does IG prioritize newer accounts? Thanks so much!

I’m frustrated because I do a lot of cosplays, new followers were coming in by the hundreds everyday and all of a sudden it just completely stopped, I get about 10 most followers a day. This doesn’t even out well for the people that unfollow everyday which is normal for a high follower profile that I have. But it’s just not getting even out anymore. I’m posting reels and still nothing.

this video is helpful but there's something missing. i post almost every day on ig reels, i post stories too sometimes i do just regular post. while doing that i make sure that my content are high quality videos write captions 3-5hastags i do everything to make it work. here is the problem for those past 2 weeks my views decreased more and more my engagement id dying instagram is not pushing my videos? i try to be consistent as possible but it's hard to invest in something and seeing that it's going down

I post reels everyday and my engagement is down drastically. I also switched from business to creator to get more music.
Do you think I need to post pics as well and change back to business account perhaps?

Great video! In general the more frequent you post reels the more likely you are to get followers/views. I’ve been posting twice a day but easily could do 3x a day, do you think 3 a day would be better than two or just stick to two? Or go down to one lol?

Hi, my reels have gone down from 6k views to 25 views on good content. I really don’t know why, account doesn’t grow either

I have 600+ reach but all of a sudden engagement went down from 400 likes to literally 100

My reach and and engagement has suddenly gone down from last 10 days,I used to get 70k-80k on my reels but after I got my ig updated I'm not even getting 2k views.

I have a small account and previously my reels were doing quite good and my reels were being promoted by AI as i got like and comments from many “non-followers” , but recently i think i have damaged my account as i deleted some reels ( as they had so so poor engagement and views probably due to my mistakes like you mentioned in other videos using screen recording and stuff) . My reels views dropped drastically just like the likes. It's sooo hard for me to even reach 1k views while before I could get 2k and 3k easily and most of the time way more than 3k. Now it seems only my followers are seeing my reels. The reach and engagement dropped. Can we be shadowbanned just for reels? My other posts are doing fine but my reels are making terrible from the beginning of the week.

Hi guys I would like your advice on whether this is a good start to my Instagram growth, I don’t really know what is normal, but I’m really happy with the results so far.

Ok so, I had an old Instagram account, most of my followers were all inactive, just some of the people I knew in real life..So, about 40 people were active.. I finally after spending hours and hours researching & planning.. made the move, I started posting on July 3rd. I didn’t want to create a new account so I first archived all my old posts & informed the few people that viewed my story that I was changing my Instagram name.

I have posted 25 posts so far and this is what the insights from July 3rd to now are:

I’ve gained 212 followers, lost 79, overall 133 followers which shows +22% increase
My account reach +9,414% 13.4K people, 724 accounts have engaged, +2,235%

I have also noticed in the past 2 weeks my posts have reached even more accounts. I was at 669 followers August 13th, now i’m at 735.

What do you think? Should my growth be higher or is this a perfectly normal growth rate?

and what happens if I'm not a business account and i just share my selfies and you know just pictures of myself and stuff like that?
and i don't use hashtags
my captaions usually look like "this week's photo dump" or something like that.
so I'm just a personal account
but my engagement dropped a lot

One thing I hate about IG Reels vs TikTok is if you have a business account you don't have access to any commercial music. So trending audio is pretty much obsolete if you have any business account. I'm guessing your channel is geared more toward creator accounts? Do you see IG making all music available for all accounts?

I started using reels a month ago, and saw my Likes and engagement go up. I even gained 50 followers from reels. But, now I am getting very low engagement from reels. Why such a sharp drop if reels are supposed to be the thing.

I’m an artist, and initially, my reels would do at least 2k+. But now, if I can get more than 20 views, then that would be considered a literal blessing. And it’s being doing that for a while, despite using trending audio, hashtags, captions with keywords. Any idea why this is happening? I checked my community guidelines tab, and I have no violations listed. Not only that, I can’t seem to use the “Add Yours” stickers on stories either.

Each reel that ive posted everyday for the past 2 weeks have been getting 5k+ views everytime. Now im only getting up to 150 views. A couple days ago, i archived a photo right after i posted it just simply bc i messed up the video and also changed my bio after a long time. Could that be a reason?

I keep asking questions and using call to action functions but never get any comments lol

Do you think IG will ever do anything about engagement groups? I really feel like they are part of the reason engagement is down for everyone. it's hard to get engagement when you have these groups getting other content pushed out because of the unfair advantage they have against organic content growth creators.

That's good tips because I've been discouraged by reels engagement. I do my instagram research and still don't perform well. Plus I noticed that reels updated the way the videos are so I want to do better. I'll definitely look into the tips etc
