Ugh... I think the new show should have done at least 15min in episode one of the breaking... But this is so slow and the end is so weak ...

Better and much more acceptable than the drivel Amazon put out there with their WOT

I remember thinking this was bad... Now I wish it happened instead of the mess we have now.

I liked The Winter Dragon. Though, at the end, Lews Therin should have been screaming, "Light forgive me." And we definitely should have seen the creation of Dragon Mount. But still, it's a lot better than what Amazon gave us.

Ok, it's still not the best acting. Like if they had done another take or two it probably would have turned out better. But infinitely more accurate than Prime WoT.

Honestly, in spite of the clearly low budget, poor costume and set design, and hammy acting, I enjoyed this one segment more than the entirety of the Amazon series. I can tell that these people at least cared about creating a faithful adaptation of the books. If they'd been given the same budget as the Amazon series, I think they could have come up with something quite good!

For essentially an unaired pilot, this was really good. Imagine this with the budget that amazon had, would be amazing!

Incredibly, this aged well.

Well, I wasn't swept off my feet exactly, BUT, it was intriguing, it - if a bit drawn out - follows the prologue and I would MUCH prefer to see more of this than the shitfest we actually got from Amazon which would have Robert Jordan turn in his grave and possibly even wake up and try to break out of his grave to visit misfortune upon the world.

Daniel Greene was so harsh to this underrated episode which clearly had a small budget and limited time, and is so nice to Rafe Judkins when he has 80 million dollars and plenty of time to make something good

It begs its point a bit and could be condensed, but I understand more of what's going on here, and the stakes of the show, than I understand after a season and a half of the current Amazon series. In the latter, I'm still not even sure who the main character is. It seems as if it should be Rand, but there seems to be a lot of women moving around and making decisions that don't make any sense. (NB I've not read the books.)

Imagine that years later we would go back to Winter Dragon just to wash away the bitter taste of Wheel of Prime. This obvious ashcan pilot is terrible, but it's at least true(true in the sense that they actually use stuff from the books) to the books.

Well..... Two years later and after suffering through some of this pathetic abortion of Robert Jordan's best selling masterpiece I'm fervently praying that it goes the way of other equally horrible series like "My mother the car" and "Cave Men"..... Even if it's replaced with this one! Seriously, PLEASE... Replace it with this version!! The current WOT is an embarrassment to Robert Jordan's memory with so much re-writing going on, turning it into a leftist slag of indoctrinated filth, politically correct alphabet soup agenda BS & a complete destruction of the original story line coupled with some of the worst decisions in casting that I have ever seen! Seriously?? Lan should have been someone like Brad Pitt, Gerard Butler, Jeffrey Morgan or a Sean Bean type & look of an actor.... and Lanfear??? One of the most beautiful women of the Age of Legends,?? Is being played by someone who definitely appears to be old enough to be from the Age of Legends instead of a Halle Berry, Salma Hayek, Charlize Theron or an Elizabeth Hurley type of Looks!
And I don't think Harriet (Jordan's wife) actually gives an eff about what it's doing to Jordan's beloved script. The saddest thing is that most of these idiots involved in the directing, producing, re-writing and casting of this pathetic excuse for a TV show see anything wrong with it!

Everyone saying, "oh, these people did such a better job than the people who do the Amazon show!" The thing is... it's the SAME people. It's Rick Selvige and Larry Mondragon (and their company, Red Eagle Entertainment). I'll tell you a sad story... A long time ago, Red Eagle held the rights to make a movie of WOT. Years and years go by and they never make anything at all and RJ is pissed about this, right up to the day he passes away. More time passes, and JUST before the rights are about to revert back to RJ's estate(as in like, only a day or two before, or something crazy like that), they churn out this pile of crap, "Winter Dragon". It airs on FX at like 2:00a.m. once. ONE time. They never had any intention of developing it into a show, it was merely a sad ploy to retain the film rights. Harriet was pissed and filled a lawsuit to get the rights back, but the way they were written, Red Eagle had to produce SOME kind of "feature length" media within a certain time frame or the rights would revert back, and RJ's estate could let other production companies option WOT for tv/ movie. Unfortunately, Red Eagle's ploy worked, as Harriet lost the lawsuit and they retained the rights, because this technically counted as a full- length tv episode, and they waited until Amazon picked it up years later. Then they stripped it away into something so much worse than "Winter Dragon". The last post RJ made online before he passed away was to complain about his annoyance with Red Eagle and the fact that they still hadn't made any progress. It's so sad that these guys hold the fate of these wonderful books in their hands, yet obviously care so little about them other than the amount of money they can make. Sadly, this is only "better" than the show because it's slopped together with a tiny budget in a very short time- frame, so they couldn't write an actual script. Because of that, they were FORCED to use the source material. So that's why we all think this is "better" than the Prime show- because of two men and their sad, pathetic thirst to exploit the story we love for as much profit as they can. Such a really tragic story...
