Might have to find one to add to my collection of Crowns ..
ОтветитьI'm pretty sure the S184 is quicker - under 6 seconds. It's NA. This is closer to the NA 3.0 S182 Athlete, which is odd
Ответитьog version sounded better. supercharged cars sound like trash.
ОтветитьThese Toyota Crown’s are the top of the line sedans in Japan . They’re excellent cars luxury the PM’s of Japan are driven in this model Crown model Toyota .. it’s like the Holden statesman that our PM used to be chauffeured driven in … being a car the PM is chauffeured driven in both have special modifications for safety and speed handling … they’re beautifully Japanese made attention to detail and specs …it’s a more a grand tourer line the Cadillacs in America … they can be tuned with the ECU remapped to get better performance … they’re more for chauffeured /family use of car so performance is okay but not spectacular bottom end … a European equivalent would cost 150k plus just for a base model of same quality …
ОтветитьI OWN A NATURALLY ASPIRATED GRS 184 AND IT DOES 0-100 AROUND 5 SECONDS I CANNOT MAKE SENSE OF THIS
ОтветитьHopefully you get a nice 184 crown athlete for the channel theyr the best ones rip harder than this 👌👌
ОтветитьHow did you manage to get this in the states?
ОтветитьSo the hybrid one is quicker?
ОтветитьLove this crown man by any chance are you selling it I would love to buy it it's my dream car.
ОтветитьHmmm interesting, I’ve got the same car here in NZ with +m supercharger and stock. This one sounds a bit delayed, laggy or tired ? Could the supercharger belt be worn or something if higher mileage? Mines pretty responsive. Lights up rear wheels if I tried the same 😂 Still a good review though man, bloody good cars.
ОтветитьAll the information is probably in Japanese.
The whole idea of the Crown is quiet refinement...
A supercharged Crown now that's pretty special man, just a great all rounder but she's a heavy girl lol & needs a ZF box for a better 0 to 100,nevertheless it's a beauty so thanks mate I enjoyed this review 👍
ОтветитьI’ve had mine Black 2008 M+ for 7 months love it
ОтветитьI don’t like how those S200 crowns look small on paper, still, they are far more superior than Camrys and japan will always have the worlds coolest Toyota lineup
ОтветитьThis particular generation of Crown Athlete after this video becomes my top 3 JDM dream car, joining Chaser, Aristo and Soarer, it's even better because of not so advanced age. Damn, cars from 2009 are already becoming youngtimers!
BTW, Imagine my face and reaction when I've driven for the first time with my wife through a road to our house we've just bought in a new city and realised that so close to new home is a workshop that specialises in importing and JDM maintenance, having on a display a few JDM sedans from early 2000's. In goddamn Poland, where JDM's are even more exotic than in OZ! Now I'll see JDM sedans everyday while going for groceries. Like could be great!
You're doing something wrong
The 2004 - 2007 grs184 crowns do low 5s 0-60 mph
They don't weigh nearly 1.9tonne, maybe you are getting mixed up with the gws Ross? It's about 1,680kg from memory.
ОтветитьVery cool the crown
ОтветитьNever new that Toyota did a supercharged engine
ОтветитьSeems like it is hesitating, probably due to age & lack of maintenance - probably still running on original sparkplugs, MAF sensor has likely never been cleaned - could be someone put 91 octane fuel in it and so on - transmission could be part of the problem, but often if it's an ignition or fuel/mix issue, the ECU will pull a load of timing at low RPM/high load, and it can feel a lot like the transmission is not responding. I suspect with a thorough service it'd behave itself a lot better.
ОтветитьHow are all these jdm cars coming into Australia when they’re not 25 years old. I’ve been seeing crowns and blades and kei trucks that were never ADM. it it’s different because japan is also right hand drive. Or that we just like the Japanese a bit more than goofy Americans
ОтветитьChange camera man, video quality Is terrible.. buy a 4k resolution camera, 1080p isn't the best with the camera you got.
ОтветитьI'm in two minds here to get myself either a WN Series II Caprice V or One of these Crown Athlete's?
ОтветитьWow 6.1 with a supercharger. Mate in Melbourne 2011 is350 4.7 but he guttered his rear seats n speakers. I have a 2015 is350 I have gotten 4.8 once. But I get 5.1-5.2 consistently. Still I think it's let done is the gearbox. It sounds laggy and unresponsive. I love the supercharger whine. Super cool
ОтветитьThe lag in manual shifts...Move the gear lever....light up a cigarette...and bam there's your shift! :) But all jokes aside it's a rare, unique, luxurious and reliable car. Nice job finding one and bringing it up to the channel.
ОтветитьSounds great with the supercharger but sad they didn't open it up more with a better box
ОтветитьI love the supercharger whine on this Crown and it's much better than the new one... Great review and hopefully we can see an L67 on this channel someday...
ОтветитьPlease do a Toyota Mark X review with the same engine and Supercharger Modellista version if you can get your hands on one lol I believe you will find that one quicker.
ОтветитьChange up from second gear sooner and you'll save a fraction of a second but I think in 2006 the hsv ve had good tech too
ОтветитьThe main issue with all Toyota's/Lexus of this era (as well as the Aurion's) is the slow 6 speed Aisin box. They are super reliable, but totally unresponsive and not suited to 'sports' driving. Not aware of any aftermarket valve bodies either to fix this. Pretty funny how this example is no faster than the NA version. Kinda defeats the purpose.
ОтветитьSounds a lot better than the TRD camry! The supercharger whine sounds awesome
ОтветитьWe didnt get jdm cars because they would have been the only things been bought . Thats why the gov let us get the povo cars and tax the hell out of the imports so nobody could afford them . Im a holden man but my best car was my imported mr30 1985 skyline . The vk commy or xf falcon of the same time were like a horse and cart compaired to my skyline . Its like the powers to be didnt want us to have the jap tech even though we were building them here at toyota nissan mitsubishi . We get the povo cars .
ОтветитьWonder how this would compare to the very rare supercharged Mitsubishi 380😅?
ОтветитьWould love to see a Toyota Mark X 350s review if you can get your hands on one.
Love the vids!
Love your JDM reviews Ross.
How does it compare with the hybrid version in terms of power and fuel economy.
Seen all your review on all the s200 variants n/a, V8 majesta., Hybrid and Modellista so which in your opinion is the best variant?
Looking again at your hybrid review it had 6.08 sec 0-100 so you reckon it's the best version to get?
wheels are TRD tf-2 forged by rays
Ответитьtimestamp your videos Please 🙏
ОтветитьThe problem with this cars is when things go wrong and they will, good luck in finding parts
ОтветитьIs it flex fuel capable? Possibly make more power on 95, 98 or even e85 fuel? Or maybe it requires a minimum of say 95 and the dealership might not of known and topped it off with 91, making a rough fuel mix cutting power under full throttle? 🤔
ОтветитьPrice when new for the +M with supercharger was 6,445,000jpy or 7,245,000jpy for the G package trim
Ответитьtrick up the trans??
Ответить367lb torque at 3200rpm
Double wishbone suspension
4.7kg per horsepower
Curb weight is 1680kg whilst with all fluids etc, full tank etc, can be up to 1955kg,
The Camry is direct comparison to the Falcon and Commodore not this Car.The Crown is one level down from the LS and GS Lexus as it has 4.3 and 4.6 LS engines and 3.5 NA engines from the GS Lexus.Engines in the Crown are Direct injection system while the LS and GS V8 and V6 are direct and port injection system.Interior features are very similar in The Crown LS and GS with the Lexus being another level up in fit and finish.
ОтветитьRoss, re 0-100 , it's delayed off the line, but also choking at the top end, you can really see it in second, looks , sounds like has heaps of punch in the beginning of 2nd until between 90-100+ , takes forever. Definitely seems something's not quite right.
ОтветитьGday jono
How the au falcon going bro
Interesting review of the Crown Athlete, Ross. They sure have been around for a long time. The first one I’ve seen with a supercharger and RWD. The supercharger sounded good but can hardly hear the exhaust. If the exhaust got a bit of work done to it then it would be a nice cruising car but not an off the line car for the price of this car. Thanks for the review.
