* Always amazing information. I learn so much from you guys. Thank you for everything you do.*
ОтветитьIf the soil isn't warm enough yet in colder regions, there is still a good chance of a frost event that would kill the plant completely. Tomatoes really don't like day/night time temps lower than 45F, therefore, make sure outside temperatures are regularly above 55F or better before planting to avoid those risks.
ОтветитьThe horizontal planting works wonders in the midwest 😎
ОтветитьIf you plan on canning your tomatoes, having a lot ripen at once is the goal. I highly recommend learning to can; it's incredibly satisfying, not to mention delicious!
ОтветитьSo just put tomatoes in jar and leave it open for ten years? Why would you not explain how to do it?
ОтветитьI don't fertilize my tomatoes. Good compost and water system will do it's job. I make spaghetti and marinara sauce on my first few harvest because I like a little bit sweet sauce. Bad looking tomatoes and last harvest before frost will become salsa. I live in Oregon, sometimes frost comes end of September.
ОтветитьIs it possible to successfully grow cherry tomatoes indoors? I bought a plant from Trader Joe’s, which was advertised as an indoor tomato plant.
Ответитьcomplicates simple stuff
ОтветитьMe this year too much heat and it was limp mode and died some branches, too much rain had a slug fest ,i had to shade it due to sun burn, now in August temp is good but tomatoes are small
Ответить❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
ОтветитьDon't ever say "I've got a dirty little hack for you" HAHAHAHAHAHAH
ОтветитьThank you for sharing this video. I learned a lot
ОтветитьHave you grown the Giant crimson?
ОтветитьWho knew mr.beast had such a green thumb
ОтветитьI'm confused about "days to maturity." I started my super sweet 100 tomatoes on March 23rd in my house. I planted them out in the garden June 1. It's now July 18, so I started these seeds indoors almost 120 days ago. We have a few tiny green tomatoes on thin tall stems, but nothing that we can harvest. The stems are over 4 feet tall, and very thin with 0-6 tomatoes on them That's more than double the "50 days to maturity." And it looks nothing like the super sweet 100 that everyone says is so easy and prolific. we have tiny green tomatoes on 3 of 5 of our plants, but nothing is growing abundantly, and growing so slowly, nothing is even close to maturity. I'm in zone 6 in CT. It's mid -July. I waited until our night time temps were above 50, and planted out at the beginning of June. Was my house too cold when i started the seeds in March?
ОтветитьThe fermenting seed "hack" was not informative. Many other gardeners talk about adding water. No mention of the time to ferment, the mold, and what to do after.
ОтветитьMy tomatoes were attacked by te dreaded horn worm. 😢 I pulled and plucked them off and sprayed with BT. Q: for the main stem that was decimated, what is my strategy to encourage growth or should I pull the plant?
Ответить👍
ОтветитьI have put tomatoes under newspaper in the dark and ripened several hundred at a time
ОтветитьI'm using human poop 💩 to fertilize my tomatoes 🍅 and they grow bigger and bigger every year and more jucy and sweet are becoming... I've learned that from my neighbour...
ОтветитьTest your water and use ascorbic acid to control your PH. They won't care about chloramine but if you are companion planting with basil, the basil will appreciate it.
Don't just test your soil, and adjust it properly.
At the end when he said a technique that force tomatoes to stress out would give better flavor that's literally the same technique as the chinese dog restaurant use as they claim it makes the dog taste better......... vegan and aninal rights have some thinking to do
ОтветитьI tried saving a potted tomato over winter. I cut it off just above the soil and kept the temperature above freezing. The next spring it came back like gangbusters! I wonder how long a tomato plant can live if you continue this. Michael
ОтветитьI live in the Netherlands, some growing seasons i hardly have to water at all... Rain rain rain
ОтветитьI dehydrate tomatoes and blend it into powder for use in everything from soups to smoothies
ОтветитьI absolutely don't agree with the chill on tomatoes advice.
What we need is more tomatoes, I eat plates of them each day when they're in season. It's the best thing ever. Make fresh pasta sauce with them, use them in salads, just eat them fresh sliced with a bit of salt and pepper.
Great info!
ОтветитьThat’s great info! Thank you.
ОтветитьYou look like you are on of the property brothers. Do you guys see it?
ОтветитьI’ve tried staggering the planting times to get staggered harvests. It doesn’t work in my climate (Maryland) They all fruited at the same time and I wished I had planted them all early.
Ответить2nd year rookie gardener here, my overwintered cherry tomato is looking nice and healthy for a 2nd season but none of the flowers are producing fruit yet, is it still too cold? (I'm in SD like you) Is it better to just plant a new one each year or can I just constantly clone from the original one, year after year?
Ответитьabout fermentating seeds, do i leave jar open or closed ?
ОтветитьHi. What's the best tomatoes fertilizer you recommend?
ОтветитьI wont watch garden vids with a palm tree in the background.FROM SOUTH CENTRAL KY. FJB😊
ОтветитьIm sorry kevin but it looks like you live in a kinda tropical place? I see palm trees behind you. But good information
ОтветитьToo big.
ОтветитьGreat idea’s
ОтветитьI like the staggering, I do that with my carrots and radishes. Are there any other "hacks" that don't require any technology or chemical fertilizers? I try to garden as close as possible to how people used to farm before the modern era, with crop rotation and preserving.
Ответить“Tomats”, “fert”,,, seriously? Are you trying to be “coo”?
ОтветитьHim: Chill out with planting tomatoes.
Me with over 120 young plants: Uh huh yes, please continue.
Too many tomatos?? That's when you make tomato sauce and store it for winter.
ОтветитьSo what do you do after you squeeze the tomato bingo the jar 🤷🏻♀️
Ответитьtomatoes. Nobody calls them "tomats"
ОтветитьI Use the heck out of N for the first 8 weeks of tomatoesbeing in the ground. Then July 1st ish completely cut off the N and switch over to heavy P-K. The result is a huge plant by the time July hits and then enormous amounts of blooms and fruiting once I ramp up the PK in July-end of season.
ОтветитьThere's no such thing as having too many tomatoes! In my case, once I've got too many ripe on my counter, I grind them up, cook them as a stew, then freeze them in an air-tight bag and put a date on them. Then throughout the entire winter, my wife grabs them and makes meals out of them.
Regarding cloning, I FIGURED THIS OUT ON MY OWN LAST YEAR! I had too many situations where I'd look at my plant mid July, see that there was a gigantic sucker that I missed, that essentially turned into another plant and I thought, what the heck, let me try and experiment. I tried putting some in water and some straight in the ground. Simply put, there's no need to put them in water. Put them straight in the ground and water them twice a day until they form enough of a rooting system that you can water them on a normal schedule. I'm in zone 6b and those clones were producing fruit into NOVEMBER!
