Actually, for hundreds of years people consumed 50-100 grams of salt a day, because of using it for conservation of food. They did not have more heart disease

There was nothing about your education background in the video. Are you a scientist or hold a degree in Science or a medical student? That is some strong stuff about the destructive changes in the body that come from giving up salt completely? Did you test it out on yourself or did you have a friend do it, so you could document it? If not, then was it a study? Maybe, it would be good to cite your research. If you went to college, they must have taught you how to quote sources.

Optimal salt is between 3000mg and 5000mg of sodium and potassium and 400mg of magnesium

I have a connective tissue disorder called hypermobile Ehlers Danlos Syndrome, and extra salt is actually required, along with fluids and supplements.
My mother had her first heart attack just days after a colonoscopy. We didn't know about hEDS and the need for sodium, and the "prep" (AKA poop soup goop) caused her great harm.
I think cardiologists should be better informed.

Replacing Some Salt with potacium salt makes for a faulty study.
Its now 2 variables instead of one, rendering the findings less clear.

A pet peeve: there is no such thing as "the average American" - there is an annual average salt intake of people in the US. The former phrasing encourages thinking in absolutes and archetypes when the reality of salt intake, and many other things, is that there is a distribution.

Quit salt but don´t quit iodine. People eat too little fish, especially when you´re not in US where there is sufficient iodine in the soil. Since I supplement iodine I don´t like salt as much anymore! What I really recommend to everybody is to get a blood test done. This will show you exactly if there is a problem with salt or not or any other problem.

My biggest surprise when I completely cut salt and sugar for an entire week was the weight loss, since the reward system salt activates basically is shut down, I ate far less and there was no pleasure in eating, at least not in the traditional sense. The whole "function in the body" salt seems to have appears to be exaggerated, in my opinion.

Salt has been demonized and in my opinion, for no good reason. A gross, completely unreasonable daily overconsumption of salt is dangerous, but so is everything else in these quantities.
Salt is absolutely fantastic for you, and especially more so if you do any sort of physical activity regularly.
Jist like everything else in this world, the poison is in the dose, and the body is pretty good at regulating sodium.

I have varicose veins wrapping around my upper Gi and various other organs. I hemorrhage heavily last year needing two blood transfusions to stabilize. I definitely didnt help myself through certain lifestyle choices, but now I make everything from scratch. Sodium wants to kill me and I found out the hard way when I bled rectally with fresh blood for a whole day. I did a few experiments myself and I dont know my threshold for sodium intake, so I keep it low. Having a near daily intake a few times a week for 3-4 weeks will also make me bleed. So accumulated consumption of sodium also has dilitarius effects for me. My life has changed drastically and ngl I miss doing certain things, but I enjoy a lot in my life regardless, so not yet mentally debilitating brain.

I cut out adding my own salt, as well as all fast food. It was like 3 months in when I started to have real consequences. I drank so much water and worked out frequently, never replenishing. I was spacey and felt faint upon standing. My lips and fingers would turn blue. My doctor told me I’ve always had hypotension and should be ADDING salt if anything. I’d always eaten nearly 8oz of queso or a Big Mac every day so it was never a problem. Now I don’t eat meat, I put as much seasoning salt as I want on whatever I cook. Still don’t eat fast food. Creepy to see what was happening inside me when I was without sodium

If you do an hour of high intensity cardio you need that much salt because you sweat up to 1800mg an hour.... So you don't need to change your diet, u just need to workout more.... I didn't know people only had 3400mg of sodium a day, it's dramatically lowered since early 2000's. It was like closer to 5-6grams... I actually tried reducing salt intake even though I exercise a lot and I was always feeling dehydrated and weak, I doubt I was so deprived in salt that I had the hypo he's talking about but It was a bit of an issue... Now I sprinkle salt in my water with my Gatorade everytime before cardio

Quitting salt is almost impossible. Grocery store meat is filled with salt cause that makes the meat store longer as a matter of fact 100 years ago without fridges we had to use salt to preserve food for longer as well. Quitting salt entirely is impossible anyways and if you somehow figure out a way to then you’re dying cause you’re body needs salt. We just eat way too much just like sugar

When people talk about "no salt", they mean table salt. Your body needs sodium and chloride, and BOTH can be found in leafy greens.
So, when you quit salt, you have to eat loads of greens. You might think a salad a day does it, but "loads" means LOADS. :)

Those who can get through that transition (salt has an addiction factor, too), get fantastic health benefits.
