As an Second Language English teacher to students from a really underprivilaged place in Europe, I am just at the beginning of my journey to properly support them. When the uncomfortable words are immediately Learned, Will that instantly put them in that higher reading Level for you???. Otherwise the child will perceive it as a limitation. And, also that , the child is not to do better to learn the word.
That is what happened with my child. She refused to defy the teacher and try to read better because, the teacher told her she could not, when she was already reading above her grade. 👎
