Dimash asked Igor to write him an Ave Maria, and this is the result. A few months ago I saw a short video of Dimash (even though he's been singing since the age of five) working with his vocal coach on the just the last two notes, to make sure he had perfected the somewhat difficult technique for the last two notes. You mentioned how, at the beginning of this song (actually, ALL of his songs) he "gets into" the song beforehand, preparing himself for what is to come. I've noticed over the past two years that AFTER he finishes a song it takes him a few seconds to release himself from it.

It's really funny that vocal coaches think they're contributing anything of value when they talk about technique it a performance like this. It is. A good way to do a reaction although I suppose it's good for certain kinds of vocal coaching. The best reactions are people who are so open to it that they exist are crying. And the technique is always a service of that which the vocal coach knows, of course. But for some reason they are stuck in one of Aristotle's four causes, namely be effective cause. But the cause to be concerned about here would be more like the occasional cause, or the event which here is a deep musical occasion. There are better ways to go about this kind of reaction in talking or simply taking in music like this, and less, as I said, what is actually doing technical work with a singer.

With vibrato you can miss the pitch slightly without anyone noticing, but his straight tone at the end is 1000% on pitch. I guess he has a nice reverb in his ear monitor to help though.

Sounds almost like on the last note he's dampening some lower frequencies like overtone singers do to get the piercing thin quality.

This is another vocalist that need smoke, specialized lighting, a choir, and an orchestra that is very loud to cover up his contortions. Let's put him with a guitar, or perhaps a piano and see where he goes, and what in the hell is with his leg placement?

I have listened to Dimash 5 times now, and he does absolutely nothing for me at 74. I have experienced most of the great vocalist of our time and he is not in that category at all. I get no chills, no loss of breath, nothing from his contortions and freakish sounds. This performance leaves all to be desired, and nothing worth experiencing
