Etsy Shop for Beginners (COMPLETE TUTORIAL) | How to start an Etsy shop step by step

i want to sell mugs and tshirts too...

I have four of my designs on my POD website. I exported one of my four designs mockups on a Gildan G500 T-shirt yesterday following my POD instructions. I rounded down the price a little to $18.00. I chose 9 of the 16 colors my designs would stand out on. I selected the size choices Small-3x Extra Large.

They populated accurately as a long list on Etsy i.e. all 16 color selections for this design, the sizes, and the price ranges (for sizes) that defaulted correctly from $18.00 -$21.00.

And the T-shirt appeared on my store front nice and large with a column of my design on the various colored T-shirts, to the left of my large mockup. The mockup is between a left and right pointing arrow. The shoppers can now sample a color for that design on my large mockup design by clicking on the arrow or clicking on the thumbnails of different colors.

I was so happy I finally got this done because I was getting false info back in July on how to do this. I was generally getting so burnt out on this and this whole world because setup is not easy.

But happy turned to cr---y when I realized I only have 9 color choices as represented by the thumbnails. There's only 9 of them. I tried selecting pass them in the up/down direction and there's only 9 of them. But all 16 colors have populated in my back store area.

But it worked ok on Shopify, all 16 color choices. (I tried Shopify but I realized Etsy is best for me right now.)

Any suggestions? I'm fit to be tied. It's one thing after another. Please assist me if you can. I also emailed Etsy but who knows how long it'll take for them to get back to me...

*********Update. I think I figured it out. It was right in front of me. Etsy is seeing my 16 mockup designs as photos. That's why it only allowed 9 of my T-shirt colors. It left the tenth one open for the 10 "photo", not filling that one too. For some reason...

Etsy allows only 10 photos per listing.

But why is Etsy categorizing my mockup T-shirt designs as photos??? They're not photos. I need the 7 that weren't included so that shoppers can sample my design on all 16 colors.

Is there anyway to get around this???

WHEN i set up my shop, Etsy required I use Plaid for payment. It was quite involved to do that. Was that not required when you did your video? That was what I was really needing help with. I did pick up so great pointers from you so Thank You!

Hi Kate. Thanks for your hard work. I have 2 questions. We need to enter our credit card information for expenses in the store information. Can this card be virtual card? I shop from ETSY with the same card, and I have never had a problem. Or do we have to enter my original card for sure?
My second question: When we produce in Midjourney, do we have to enter it as a production partner? Thanks

Hi Kate, I know this is an old video, and I'm sure you're very busy, but I was wondering if you could help me out with something. Seeing that I'm just starting out on Etsy, let's say I have several of one product, and I use whatever size boxes and packing material I could get my hands on. When listing that product, as you had shown, you have to put in the size and weight when packed. What size and weight do I put if the boxes are all different? By the way, I love how you laid everything out very clearly!

Once setup is complete, does the product that you signed up with automatically go live or is there a choice to activate it later, if there are some more behind the scene things that you need to do, like setup your print-on-demand account?

Hello Kate, I enjoyed this video and have started my first ever Etsy shop, BUT there has been a HUGE snag in the completion process.
I started and got to the signing in, share who I am, and shop name set up and stopped there waiting for the new banking info to come in to complete the process.
Now, the nightmare begins, and signed in but can't get to shop manager, it grayed out. I start taping in everything, and I finally got what looks to be my shop page, but the name is not right. A bunch of what looks to be code of letters and numbers is where my name should be. Help Desk takes me to the set up your shop name page. When I type in my shop name, it tells me it's taken, which is me. My husband found an etst community forum page, and I found out there Etsy made me a Registered Buyer. Not at all what I am, I'm a shop for selling. Then, my husband found Etsy's Techsupport page where I submitted a help ticket. This all took place on Feb 7th. I'm concerned they are going to take forever to help me because in the Community Forum, I saw some questions have not been answered for over a year.
If I shut down my shop, remove or take down my shop can I renter my shop name, or will it still be concerted taken? Do you have any idea how long Techsupport helps in this issue? Oh!... I tried to enter your offer of 40 free entries, and Etsy denied me stating I have used a similar offer in the past, which I haven't being my first experience with Etsy.
A true NIGHTMARE. An awful experience for a beginner.

Should you use a business account for Etsy or personal ?

This video completely skipped the part where you pair your bank account up with plaid. When I got to this part, it got my bank information and wouldn't let me go any further. Meaning the saving continue button was blacked out instead of being lit up blue, and I was unable to press it. So I immediately closed my account, because I wasn't able to even set up my shop and Etsy manage to get my banking information from me. That's pretty scary when you go on and sign up for something like this to sell your stuff and as soon as I get your banking information you can't go any further. Now I know it's not a problem with my banking information or any of my other information because I've done the same process multiple times on different selling sites. I just thought I would try out this Etsy thing and I wasn't even able to try it out. All I was able to do was give them my financial information. Therefore, leaving myself open to be completely scammed by the company.

I've heard that Etsy also allows sellers to add listings directly from their store (Etsy store), pay for them, and sell them to their customers, but not like the traditional and correct way you showed in this video. May I know if what He told me is legit or fake?

One question: is there any way I can start creating listings (or the bank information) but save them partially completed, so that I can come back to them another day? I'm not sure if I can get all my product listings and complete setup in one go.
