How to set up AdMob mediation groups and other important features

Right now I do a mediation group for each ad unit that target a certain ecpm (be it admob or another ad source) is that ok ?
For example I have a mediation group for all my apps that want an interstitial at $10. Then I made another mediation groups for all my apps that want an interstitial at $5.
Is that how it is used ?
