What about Figma to Webflow? That’s the future.

Webflow is pretty much for developers like myself who need to speed run browser compatibility. Way cheaper than a macbook. As a dev squarespace makes me want to die.

Thanks for the great overview! I’m a UX designer a long history in the industry and I’m working on rebuilding my personal site. I’ve been considering Webflow, Framer and Squarespace. Some of the things you can do in Framer are pretty compelling, but I’ve been concerned about limited funcitonality, or extra work down the line. It’s a tough decision so I’d be interested to know what other people have chosen for their personal sites, and why.

There is no way Framer can Even compete with Webflow... It's just way too behind.
Framer would probably work for a very basic website for your average person who doesn't know how to use tech.
Webflow will give you every other advanced feature that you are missing.

Honnestly, Framer community never solve my problems. When you start doing some complexe app with framer it's not appropriate.

Small website, portfolio etc. I'll go with Framer. With everything more robust, custom, definitely Webflow :)

So designers went from WIx > Webflow > Framer. They are always leaving for something new.

its not a learning curve. its ppl too lazy or dumb to study/understand how to use it. it takes so little to get used to it, if u know html, css then webflow will be so easy to use

I'm a web developer and I'm currently trying to find something new for myself, and I thought about learning CMS to build sites quicker and land some orders on upwork. What should I study first: webflow or framer?

Framer is still a subscription based Web-hosting company with a webpage editor bolted on. You're still trapped into their system like all the other major players that replaced the freedom of standalone webpage software...for locked-in page builders for the masses.

I've been using Framer for years ... and now build rich experiences in the tool with the Mantine Framework .... // Currently been working in Webflow for a couple of projects, and it is so clunky ...
.. the only saving grace for the tool for me is its CMS ... though Framer will catch up with theirs ...

so quick question: can you design a website in Framer and then export it for local viewing on a KIOSK that does not have internet access during an exhibition? Can this be used for non HTML coders to make local web pages?

What about the animations Webflow is loved ? I saw a bit in your video but that just scratches the surface of what Webflow animations can do. Would be really interested in that since I am thinking to try framer out next project.

Professional designers dont use either. These are both tools for amateurs. These tiols aren't scalable beyond building a quick static brochure site, and you end up spending a lot more time trying to work a round their limitations, and usually end up with a worse end product than if you'd just learned to use Figma > Code. If you learn tailwind, you can code quicker than a drag and drop editor and avoud all the weirdness.

My issue with Webflow is they charge a lot of money which is fine, but they are missing so many vital features. And when the community ask for something it takes years to get something so basic. Even there support is terrible and when you pay for the most expensive package you still do not get a number to call.

I think webflow is better positioned to adapt to low-code webapps, not just static websites. Webflow are now releasing a feature where you can write react code in the GUI bullt webflow pages and make them perform like an industry level webapp such as facebook etc. I'm definitely sticking with webflow (graphic designer, frontend developer who utilizes low-code and coded methodolies)

Framer is an ex-prototyping tool while Webflow is a ground up website building and publishing tool. Webflow does an excellent job of visually modelling the nuts and bolts of HTML, CSS and the box model on which the web is built. The continuing problem with Webflow as with Framer is that they aren't really developer extendable.

I can't see Framer taking over from Webflow. I think there's space for both products though, and I think Framer will take more people away from Wix and Square Space than they will from Webflow.

A lot of the hype about Framer that I'm seeing at the moment is their AI generation, which I think is completely overblown at the moment. It's just a set of pre-built sections and colour pallets that it randomly chooses, and then just adds some AI-generated text to the Text blocks. Not to take away from the amount of work and talent required for Framer to have built this tool, and it can be helpful, it's just not the end-all tool that some people are claiming.

We've only just gotten over having to deal with crypto dipshits, let's not go down that same path with AI.

All these tools are similar. Focus on one and play around with the other in case tides shift.
HTML/CSS and some GSAP animation is not that hard folks. If anything it will make you more valuable.
Suceess to all of you!
