Poor bloke probably works hard, has a nagging missus and kids to look after and wants some therapy at the lake. Then up you pop wanting to film him. There’s nothing wrong with that but you could have at least had the courtesy to ask him first and he would have probably said yes. Not to mention he’s got his kit there and doesn’t want any of it nicked. Not saying you would take anything but that is one of the main concerns when out on a session and you’ve got lot of expensive equipment with you. A simple “sorry mate do you mind if I film you casting for my blog” would have probably got you the shot you wanted. Public domain is the public domain but there’s still manners and such.

Must be good for your views, personally i think it would have been nicer to just ask.

What an Angry Silly Billy !! Regardless of how it may make you feel, from a legal stand point, there is "no reasonable expectation of privacy in a public place". Thus, you have absolutely NO Lawful Right to demand either, the opportunity to provide your consent, or the right to insist that the person stop filming. Sometimes people want some peace and quiet and don't want to be filmed, I once got my boat trailer stuck in the mud and was filmed by a clown with a drone buzzing about 15 feet away.
Rather than offer to help the man thought it better to wind me up with his toy.

As the law strands it's perfectly legal to film in public, so long as you don't intrude on private lands/personal space. (France is different) If the guy had of just kept casting, the situation would have moved on, and you wouldn't have been able to even recognise the angler. Sometimes, if someone are doing something illegal, you're gonna get this touchy reaction, but also people can be unfriendly/touchy too. Personally, if somebody doesn't want to be in a film I am making, I respect that, even thought I have the right to shoot, but if they get aggressive or insulting about it, then I will do as I please. This is kinda like that here, but its also kinda weird too lol

Like it or not, by law, you have no right to privacy in a public place so people can film you with or without your consent. It happens all the time usually in crowded public spaces and most people ignore it, even though it can be irritating. The no right to privacy applies even if the setting seems private such as standing by a lake on your own fishing, assuming that is that the lake is 'public' which appears to be the case here as the public seem to have unlimited access. The fisherman seems to believe he has a right in law not to be filmed and acts as though his rights are being abused. He is wrong. In this case, once the videographer offered and then stopped recording, all the fisherman had to do was say "thanks" and the whole event would be a non-event. That being said, the videographer should have walked away despite being offended as there is little point in arguing with an unreasonable person and the situation could have become violent. I would say they both need to chill out.

The Angler probably just wanted a bit of peace and quite and to relax in solitude without someone creeping about behind them. Regardless of what the law says about where, when and who you can film, you can show people a bit of respect before aiming your videographers lens at them.

I must admit that I don't like people talking photos or filming me because I like to keep myself to myself. I absolutely hate Facebook and some people are obsessed with putting their whole life on there and ive had people taking photos of me and putting them on Facebook without asking which i really don't like. So i can sort of understand where the fisherman is coming from. He was spodding some bait out which actually requires some accuracy and concentration.
