Hello Francis! Thank you for this fantastic guide. Even though I have been playing this game for years, I actually learned a lot and changed the way I approach a slime biome. I had a couple questions for you. Could you possibly make a guide for people who play the hardest difficulty, especially the part about carrying the slime around to change it into algae.

I have had a lot of troubles carrying slimes with dupes because of the thousands of germs they put on themselves requiring them to use 6-7-8 sinks in a row sometimes. I'm not sure if it would be better to use the shipping / convoys system instead? I also run into a lot of troubles with dupes carrying slime, then go do something else ending up contaminating other materials and eventually these materials full of simelung get into the main base and it becomes very tedious doing a lot of reloading of saved games to get it under control.

It would be interesting to see how you set your priorities on dupes to make sure that such things do not happen.

It would also be interesting to cover the part about slimelung in other gas such as co2 or H2. I have managed to destroy co2 simply by using carbon skimmers but it seems like the polluted water that the carbon skimmer outputs will have slimelung so it's important to make sure to drop it in a polluted water container outside of the main base.

Finally, I know that slimelung is not that dangerous but I like to play the game fully immersed. As a result, I consider slimelung a very serious deal and I also try to avoid using mechanics or building/positioning tricks that do not make sense in real life as much as possible. For example, I don't use the salt water tiles to keep gas inside a room. Instead, I build decompression areas.

Just to ask, I have full oxygen (no polluted etc) in my base, and in a little nick I have Slimelung, and it won't ever die in my oxygen, it just keeps regenerating?

Deodorizes now need power so, it's a bit more complicated.

Also side note people, you need multiple sources of power quickly. I ran out of coal around cycle 120, found a natural gas geyser, built a power station but the geyser went dormant very fast after.

I'm trying to recover by rushing to another far away geyser, put my food in a ice biome..dupes really don't like hypothermia when they are getting food. . But it's not looking good. My O2 level is dropping and slime lung is getting into my base from the low low pressure. (I even had to switch to alage piles for O2 production... And 8 isn't cutting it.
.. Pressure is 800 and falling.

And my dupes are insanely stressed out from low morale (trained in things that aren't faves) not enough + to morale.... And the constant slime lung while trying to get to the 2nd geyser and daily hypothermia is stressing then out.

... I'm debating going back to a very old save from the beginning on this map and correcting my errors......

... But, idk, trying to salvage this sounds like a challenge.

I just clean all the slime biomes totally nude without any health care and without deaths, is important to say that through this process of cleaning i just have one dup death , because of how stupid is their sense to choose what blocks build/deconstruct first, yes he was stuck, i was lazy, so he dies, the important thing here is slime mortality is equal 0, IA in retarded mode is 1 or more, so stop taking care of slime and start giving more proteins to your dups so they can rebuild their brain cells first

I'm 450 cycles into a world and have destroyed every single biome except oil fields and frozen biomes without ever building atmos suits. Found a chlorine vent, put a box on it, and threw a liquid lock in the entrance to get free germ killing (for no real reason other than preventing off-gassing). Didn't even build a Hospital until cycle 400. Germs are not the biggest deal really, and this video is what made me so acutely aware of that fact. Cheers!

When I started playing this game I was really daunted by the fact that you'd run out of materials because at some point you make polluted water and you have to clean that water or you are losing water and that uses sand and power both of which seemed finite to me but after watching your videos I've realised that while sand is finite it's at the level where you won't run out for a very long time and there is actually an infinite source of water in steam vents. I was also worried that making power from hydrogen by splitting water would result in less power than was used to split the water but that's not the case either although it is in real life. Basically I was worried about mass deleting (sand goes away when you change dirty water into clean water where as it should turn into some sort of mixture of sand + whatever was making the water dirty) and entropy in that you'd run out of resources to create energy but I've come to realise that 1 there is a stupidly large amount of materials and there are also resource taps in the form of vents and space debris so you could use regolith from space instead of sand. Anyway that's just to say I was very wary of this game when I first played it and I always tried to create a very small base when really I should have just watched some videos to understand the mechanics of things rather than assuming they work in a real world way. So thanks

would you still recommend this method now that deoderizers require power?

So incredibly overkill on all these videos. What’s the point when you destroy the entire map? All you care about is killing everything for artificial machine platforms, and nothing about designing a nice and natural base, which is really the only fun about this game; seeing how you can work with everything while creating a stable work of art, without destroying it all and creating nothing but a machine map. Seeing how you, and I assume many others, play like this makes me hate the game. Designing over many months, or years, of play, while keeping most of it natural, is what really makes this game beautiful. Not this completely burned up machine world of hell. Thanks for all the tips, but ultimately you make the game look like shit.

Just getting back into the game and I gotta admit, I've been tiptoeing around slime thinking it'd easily wipe out my whole base. Definitely going to expand a lot faster now!
Also not sure if it's typically done but I like to dump all my excess CO2 into slime biomes as I dig down, that helps kill off the germs too.

Brand new player here: there really should be better descriptions on the algae terrariums, because it doesn't actually say anywhere that they release polluted oxygen. I only discovered this by trying, because the gas pressure in my base was too high for oxygen diffusers to work properly (which probably means I had enough oxygen already?)

Also when did deodorizers start requiring power?

My base, every vertical ladder to go up and down has a fire pole on one side and mesh tile with deodorizer on the other side. Now the DLC requires electricity for deodorizers so best to use a unique electric grid for them as they consume 5w each allowing 200 on normal wires and 400 on conductive wires.

I still don't trust slimelung. Therefore i usually dig into a pool from up, place a ladder to the bottom, throw some clean water for stop the polluted water from offgassing and then i just dig from the bottom, so the slime falls into the water pool, then my dupes bring the slime into a storage facility placed into a frozen biome with some crude oil placed around the compactors. The slime is stored here, the cold enviroment makes a quick job of the slimelung and boom, free germ-free slime
