I suffer from Dyscalculia and I want to play D&D but I'm scared lol.
Thank you for your work.
Your awesome Nate. If I’ve got a question, you’ve got a video. Thanks so much🙏
ОтветитьI m new to this, only had one session before and now i got into bg3, I have to say that the most counterintuitive and immersion breaking thing is that the heavier arrmor something has the more likely it is for an attacker to miss (not be blocked or absorbed or do less damage) and if you wanna be that skilled fighter/rouge/monk who wears light armor or no armor and dodges most of the attacks you re out. Not even speaking of huge slow creatures who have high ac and your character cant aim a fuking crossbow point blank at
ОтветитьI'd love more of these rules school videos. They are very helpful for my players.
ОтветитьNate needs an entire new series about the rules please ! 5E is more popular than ever
Ответитьroll your attack and damage dice at the same time, so you don't look like a noob and slow down the combat even more.
Ответитьgj
ОтветитьGreat vid, Nate! MOAR!
ОтветитьSuper good tutorial! Really usefull for the session I'm hosting soon!
ОтветитьI used to play as a player 17 years ago, and now my partner is (finally) showing interest and I’m Dming for him for the first time. As an ADHDer, reading the books can be very challenging and so these videos are SOOOOO HELPFULLL!!!!! Thank you! 🥰
ОтветитьVery noice
ОтветитьOmg thank god for you!
ОтветитьIs it hard to change my players character sheets in Roll 20 from 3.5 to 5.0?
ОтветитьYou got something about surprise wrong. You can't move or act on your TURN, but once your turn passes you get your reaction back. This matters if the surpriser rolled lower initiative than the surprised as it opens up potential counterplay. This is listed on page 189 of the Player's Handbook for reference. This is probably the #1 core mechanic people get wrong in 5th edition and I see a lot of guides and rules videos giving incorrect information on it, which I'm sure is part of the reason so many people get it wrong.
ОтветитьThanks so much for this video! I was confused as shit! 😅😂 I'm basically a newbie to D&D and im going to DM a newbie group in a couple weeks so I'm trying to prepare as best I can. I have the PHB but seeing someone explain it helps so much. 👏🏻🔥🤘🏻
ОтветитьThanks
ОтветитьI’ve never played dnd before but my friends and I have been wanting to get into it. I decided to dm our first game without any prior experience (mainly because I didn’t trust them lol). I’ve read the rules and understood everything well except combat. This guide has made everything click and I’m thankful that our first encounters will actually go smoothly
ОтветитьThat explains so much
I had no idea what the attack bonus was
I’m hosting my first session in a few weeks and I finally understand all of it now because of all these videos thank you so much
ОтветитьI watched so many videos on combat, this is by far the best one!!
ОтветитьBut I’m still confused. When does the enemy get it’s turn? What can it do on its turn?
ОтветитьThe wizard hits himself with a rock and dies
ОтветитьWell done!
Thanks
First time I tried to DM I had no idea and I was desperately trying to figure out a way to balance it so that like we didn't fold everything and we didn't just get folded
ОтветитьFinally a video that tells me the literal steps of combat and not just vague instructions.
Thanks man!
New to D&D here. I really appreciate your videos. They have been very helpful. Can you tell me how a DM would go about combat when there are multiple enemies? For example, if there were two goblins, would he/she do separate attack rolls for each or roll for both in the same turn?
ОтветитьHello. I wonder if player can make damage on two NPCs at once. Can this happen?
ОтветитьSURPRISE
ОтветитьHey, keep up the great work. I'm binging on your Rule School and you are doing a great job that is helping the community.
Ответитьits been a little bit, but hopefully you get to put the 4th episode out sometime soon! One of my best friends has their first DM campaign coming up and they offered me to chance to play. I'm a complete newbie, only having listened to a couple podcasts before. Your knowledge and ability to present it in an effective and easy to understand manner has already helped me greatly. It'll take some time before my campaign starts but I sincerely thank you for this series--even if it takes a bit to come out.
ОтветитьDuring the surprise part should I ask only my highest stealth player to roll the dice for the whole group?
ОтветитьLiterally taking notes and gonna study this. Gold.
ОтветитьWow you were not joking about the year long wait.
ОтветитьNEED.NEXT.EPISODE 😳
ОтветитьWe're closing in on 2 years. Part 4 should be released any day now. 😅
ОтветитьI think it’s time for a new Rule School
Ответить💪🙏
ОтветитьI just started playing and after watching this I realized how easy combat was but this helped a lot I have to dm next week so this will help with combat
ОтветитьIf a player tries to sneak to a group of enemies.
Does the dm roll perception for every single member of the enemies or rolls perception only once?
Are there any other dm’s here who have to send their players vids like these from wasd 20 every few months?
ОтветитьJust found these videos, your explanations are amazing and very clear... it's only been 18 months... can't wait for part 4 in 2025 just before 6th edition comes out. ;-)
ОтветитьI'm hosting my very first d&d campaign and I'm just wonder when it comes to attacks or spells to do a saving thru should I use the typical DC or is there a roll already for it?
ОтветитьJust what I was looking for.
ОтветитьNew DM here, thanks so much for a detailed vid
ОтветитьThank you so much! My players and I are all new and we got so confused about damage. Kept thinking rolling a 20 on the do-you-hit-goblin roll that had something to do with how much damage. Hit roll and damage are two diff rolls. GOT IT!
Ответитьanymore of these coming?
ОтветитьThat's cool. I have patience to wait for the next episode
ОтветитьGracias Guille de america, eres mucho mas simpatico que el español, saludos
ОтветитьNext class please! Also, spellcasting!
Ответитьmy house rule when in comes to crits uses the B.A.D.A.S.S method by Bill Allen, i find it gives crit hits, a much needed increase, so as not be a wasted crit on 2 damage.
