Samsung 980 Pro: Was It Worth The Wait?

410 Canadian for 2tb that's what I think but I'm happy

I just put one into my MSI B550 Unify-X w 64GB, 5950x and 5700XT. I got the 2TB version intending to run EVERYTHING from the main drive keeping EVERYTHING ELSE (1 more M.2 and 5 SATA 2.5" SSDs) as backup and storage.
And I don't regret it a bit!

I have purchased 980 pro and it is detected in my asus tuf laptop with i7 11th Gen.
But the magician software says driver is not supported and when checked benchmark it came with 3444 MB read and 3323 MB write speeds.
Any idea on how to get suitable driver?

I only had to wait 16 hrs to get mine

My mobo has 1 pcie gen 4 and 2 gen 3 m.2 slots... so I got a 1TB 980 pro for my gen 4 slot. Now I wanna get a couple 970 Evo m.2 nvme for the other slots... for the time being I have a Samsung 870 QVO I think just for a little extra storage... but its a work in progress lmfao

Dude, at least add some delay between each graphs.... just take Hardware Unboxed for an example, they have tons of graphs on some of their vids and they're always willing to stretch such videos out to whatever the amount of time needed. Constantly pausing is not a way to go, it's quite annoying and ruins the flow of the video. UX basics 101.

I got the 500 g my speed was 6400 read 5100 write i was disappointed i didn’t get 7000 as posted on box but its super fast should of got the 1tb

how did you get those random 4k speeds? i have only 300MB/s on a brand new 980pro and its frustrating me a lot. Have been looking for fixes everywhere but i cant seem to figure it out...

if you want to impress your friends with synthetic benchmarks like a banana measuring contest, then I guess it's worth the premium. I'm disappointed they brought the PRO line down a peg by introducing cached TLC vs MLC as its predecessors had. The warranty is not as robust either.

so 980 pro runs hotter than others and Iq was worrying about mine sitting at 53 c as i have windows and professional software installed in it. its ok temps without heatsink placed above graphics card and below processor socket

Speed aside, what about the intangibles for each drive: Warranty, failure rates, etc. Who wins there?

Why would you let thew graphs fade in and instantly fade out again? There is literally not a single frame between the animation and the fade-out just show the god damn graphs.

I bought a 1 TB one for my Asus Expertbook and I get it around December 1st. It only support pcie 3. X 4 but I am still expecting it to be faster than the Intel 660p which the machine came with ;)

this would have ben a hell of a lt Easier to compare gen 4 ssd's with ge4 ssd's for the average joe if ya would have put all the gen 4 ssds in line then gen 3 and not the samsung gen 4 at the top & then the next gen 4 at the bottom..It Is Very hard to compare & even see..& I would never knew what the hel* was what if i wasn't Really paying Attention i would never know that the sabrent rocket beat the new 980 pro in 2-3 tests & then the sabrent rocket & seagate won most of the tests that really mater to any one that could really Needs it ! just FYI: It looked like it was Intentionally done to make samsung look a little better than they really are ..this go around..the 980Pro is not really a pro level drive any way ! dont get me wromg i use a samsung andi i have a sabrent 1tb an i see the sabrent is faster at any thing that maters..the big read & Wright numbers is just to impress noobs & sell drives any way..lol.

Samsung Pro used to be the top consumer endurance drive. I went 2TB Sabrent Rocket instead, on sale for $299.99 at the time of this post.
