Healthcare professionals are familiar with using simulation for the purposes of learning technical skills or training in patient care protocols and resuscitation algorithms. Human factors science emphasizes the role of optimizing the system to improve safety, by better understanding the interaction of humans and systems with each other. This session will explore how human factors science can be incorporated into simulation-based training and research in healthcare in order to provide a deeper understanding of how to deliver better care and improve patient safety.
