I love this song. The way the story is written however isn’t, Magnifico isn’t as strong a villain the way the song is trying to claim he is. Some of the original concept they had planned out for Wish in the beginning, should have been definitely used. As someone studying animation and writing, there’s a lot of flaws in this movie, the way the characters are written, the majority seem one dimensional. There was a lot of potential for this film and they didn’t exactly hit that mark.

French version is wayyyy better....

Knowing what We know now ==> he's not our King anymore (ce n'est plus notre roi). The meaning is better.

Ok also I want to say that while disney did finally add a villain for once, it isn't a good villain for a couple of reasons. First the villain should work into the story, rather than the story being built around the villain. King Magnifico seemed very forced and like the movie was screaming "LOOK VILLIAN!!!". They took it to the extreme where the king is like such obviously supposed to be the villain, it seemed like it was some art major project trying to meet some grading criteria and they forced this element in because they had to. Maybe that's the problem, namely that Disney lost its original flow and now just tries to make it movies by just lifelessly checking boxes with a complete lack of inspiration.

Lyrics are terrible, but the music itself is not bad actually. Fascinating chord progressions and exquisite choice of bass, although the song is very repetitive. The lyrics are like a group of very simple people addicted to tiktok starting singing on the spot. But overall, I really appreciate the new styles of music disney is experimenting with.

God they tried so hard to make this an epic song, buteven now it sounds like the cringy pop wannabe of itself. They really shouldn't have chosen pop producers for the anniversary when they have such a strong history of actual musical theater.
