The little devil fruit explanation here always sticks in the back of my mind as something important but often glossed over when people talk about devil fruit powers. It's dismissed in-story as an old wives' tale since the devil fruits are shown as having corporial forms and minds of their own, but Oda never says or shows anything that's worthless world-building information... While every theorist considers devil fruit to be sentient/soul-like in a way, I hope that somewhere in the end of One Piece we get to see a gathering of the little devil-souls for realsies for a minute or two! Maybe in some kind of final battle thing where they all eject from their human hosts. And preferably every fruit user still gets to live afterwords or I'll be a *mess*.

It seems you only watch the anime. As you watch, look into the chapter it adapts and read the cover stories that go with said chapters. There are some moments in the anime that will seem like plot holes because the cover story that gives background was never adapted
