Is Divinity Original Sin 2 REALLY the Best Game Ever?

Dos2 is great,So is BG3 but the Goat is still BG2 🤷🏽‍♂️

Honestly i feel like im alone on an island here but i firmly believe DOS2 is, while still being a good game, Larian's worst game. IMO the stupid armor mechanic is DOS2 really kills the fun of having a diverse team and trying builds. It makes crowd control completely obsolete since an enemy can just break free by getting magic armor from a friend and i find it really dumb that you can only stun an enemy once it has no more armor because by that time he's already more than halfway dead. On the other hand, in BG3 the crowd control is useless most of the time since enemies have such small hp pools that youre better off just damaging them.

I Played DOS 2 for 740 hours in local coop with my wife. We love the game so much. BG 3 is awesome and we are about to end our 2nd journey, but it doesnt give me the DOS2 vibes. I love how u actually feel gettin stronger through Equipment, i miss that in bg3. Also the final fight of BG3 didnt Catch us that much.

I was honestly really bummed when the lions share of environmental effects from DOS2 didn't make it to BG3. the idea of spells and abilities changing based on the elemental surfaces gave a ton of variety to playstyles and class combos for the party. I feel it most in the Archer archetype as BG3 archers feel really flat versus the mobile "debuffing" playstyle of DOS2 archer.

I cant ignore DOS2's endgame and the creative decision of restricting the group for the final chapter as it felt like a betrayal of everything building up to that point, however the gameplay before that point was 10/10 for me. DOS2 is the reason why BG3 ran so smooth so hearing that DOS3 is on the horizon is really exciting.

Got the platin trophy and over 300 hours played. Top 3 for me

I was a little disappointed on a second play through a few years later I couldn’t preview talent trees for different class allocations or plan my builds out without playing through three or four times and writing things down in a note pad somewhere. I didn’t remember this being an issue on the ps4 version so maybe it was just on the switch? I dunno.

Very far from it. The written of this game is horrible. Characters are just caricature and lack maturity and subtlety. Deus ex was far better, as Fall out 2, Morrowind and Quake.

It is not. I do not love the locked perspective camera. Even improved camera mods are only a small help.

Dos1 was good but i lost one of the blood gems along my 100 hour playthru and you cant finish the game without all of them. I never rage deleted a game so fast in my life

Does Divinity 2 have controller support like BG3. I actually prefer the controller on BG3 on PC, it just feels more immersive

Im really enjoying BG3, being a perfectionist its taking awhile, ive scum saved a fair bit, i let some stuff slide but im trying to do a Paladin Oath of the Acients playthrough so i have to stick to a code.
Divinity 2 has been interesting and not going to lie the starting ship and island im finding very slow, im fairly new to this genre, but i really appreciate the freedom, and i like the tactical combat.
Ive played Elden got the platinum mostly played co-op with my partner, but i didnt enjoy the games storytelling, i thought it was bland and the world to me was soulless. I find all soulsbourne games to be like this, i dont see the apeal beyond some fun character build, even then the combat is debatably dull compared to other games.

Nope tried playing this game for months, most sessions rage quitting, finally got of the island and every direction i went was enemies that were insanely high level compared to my party and we got the warning from the game before 1st turn party wipe, before i got a turn or even try to leave. THAT does not happen in BG3, also the system blows, the characters blow, maybe if it had BG3 level graphical presentation etc. it might be good. but the power scaling blows and gear is obsolete every time you level up. JUST look at the mods for it on the nexus, there are hardly any, that tells you how little everyone cares about the game.

This is like arguing that the Model T Ford was the best automobile ever made.

DOS2 is the worst crpg I have played. Passed the first act and couldn't force myself to continue. Kingmaker is a way better game.

BG3 had a weakness compared to DOS2 in that the combat was bound by DND 5e which honestly isnt the most optimized battle system for videogames. Im really looking forward to what Larian puts out next woth the experience and recognition they have now

i only played early access in BG3.. and from start i knew divinity 2 was superior in both story and world building.. it has that golden age of gaming vibes..

Outstanding gameplay, horrible story style. I personally can't stand D&D story structure. Bunch of heroes that are center of the story with edgy dialogues/monologues fight against evil, and they 100% prevail, and there gonna be happy ending. For me, RPG story should look like Darkest Dungeon. Characters are no heroes or at least not center of attention to complete strangers. Characters suffer mental traumas from fighting and killing. Life is no PG13, why should we make games like PG13? To increase sales profit?
In terms of gameplay, DOG2 revolutionized gameplay, it's pleasure to play a game that has so much enviorment interaction.

Yes. I have over 1400 hours in it.
It was D: O S 1 that converted me from hating turn-based games to massively preferring them. D: O S 2 stepped everything up, and i've been permanently playing it since. I still play other games, but i've ALWAYS got a DOS2 run in progress. I absolutely love BG3, but i greatly prefer the combat in D: O S 2.

I played tons of hours of divinity original sin 2. But I fail to see how it's worth it To revisit that game now that we have baldurs gate 3. It just seems like a better divinity

DOS2 is like Baldurs Gate but instead of being mildly stressful, it’s unrelentingly fun. I think despite them seeming similar due to Larian’s touch, they are like polar opposites when it comes to gameplay. I love both games, but DOS2 is probably the most fun CRPG I’ve ever played.

I'm playing Baulders Gate 3 and REALLY miss DOS2. Baulders Gate just constantly misses for me. I don't care at all about any of the characters or situations. Plus the music never hits like DOS2 did.

Larian's Divinity 2 - Dragon Knight Saga back in like 2008 was pretty good - a bit like oblivion
