Messi did not win the World Cup. It was handed to him. They were given a penalty whenever they needed one.

Let's review:
1. Saudi Arabia – Argentina was given a penalty in hopes of saving them.
2. Poland – Argentina given a penalty
3. Netherlands – Argentina got a penalty to seal the deal. It wasn't enough since the Netherlands somehow returned to the game. Also, how Argentina got out of that match with 0 red cards, God (and FIFA) only knows. But the Netherlands got a red card to ensure everything goes in Messi's direction.
4. Croatia – Argentina was given a penalty for a nice and easy entrance to the game.
5. France – Argentina AGAIN was given a penalty for a nice and easy entrance to the game.

Out of 7 games, Argentina was given a penalty in 5 games. O, and who was the "hero"? Hmmm..

I really think Argentina Netherlands deserves S tier solely because of how much was on the line + the fight during the game. Argentina advancing and Messi’s legacy was on the line and that last second free kick goal from the Netherlands sent me (and I’m sure everyone else) into panic mode as we thought Argentina could be on the verge of getting knocked out and Messi not winning the wc. + the fight after Netherlands player shoved Messi and just the whole drama about the bad refereeing and the iconic “Qué mirá bobo?” From Messi post match 😂 Imo this is definitely the 2 best match of the tournament for all those reasons. Solid list though 🫡
