the scsi drives for the mac had a male db25 to male centronics 50 pin connector.

I've always looked at getting some of these just to mess around with like you did. It would be helpful for me to use them to tally parts and repairs on my vehicles, or potentially my day to day finances just for giggles. Going to have to get one with a serial or parallel port though, love them.

Very officious and in keeping with the 'front-light-yourself ominously with an occasionally-chirping, retro-looking CRT terminal you're using to display your session notes' GM style to print out a player's secret messages from Friend Computer (or their secret society) on such a printer, tear them off, and hand them across the table when they receive them in a similar fashion in-universe, perhaps 'accidentally' not tearing it quite correctly and leaving the last couple lines of each player's secret orders on the NEXT player's message if you need to spark more infighting/drama.
For extra authenticity: find grey or red thermal paper.

Believe it or not I was in the same situation not too long ago I was able to get a thermal printer for very cheap and I really wanted one just to have it just like you I didn't do that many tests as you did but now you gave me a couple ideas my printer is ethernet it doesn't have no serial port or parallel port I believe, I used it just couple of times, I did print out a receipt not to return anything though just to see if I was able to print out receipts I guess... LOL I put it away and haven't seen it in a while but I might just clean the dust off of it and see what can I do with it, put it a little bit more into use nice video

Your little demo with the lighter reminded me of something amusing from work many years ago. A mechanic got a fax with tech specs for something he was working on. Since it had taken a lot of work to track down the info, he decided to “protect” it by running the sheet through a laminator. He could not understand why he got a nice shiny solid black page out the other side.

I used to nightmares with the sound of these, years of working in a busy kitchen 😂

If you worked in hospitality for any considerable amount of time, this thing haunts your dreams and you would never allow one near the place you sleep.

I actually have a brand new Epson still in box, went down the rabbit hole for a while reading on ESP/POS protocol. I was designing a site for a take-out place and was going to implement online ordering and have the orders go to the printer but they never ended up going with that setup and went with a 3rd party. Still need to find a use for it... maybe shopping lists or something.

Receipt Printers are incredibly powerful, like dumb powerful. I have a buddy who has one, he printed us both "Guest" Passes for one of the lounges at a Casino, we drank for free the entire weekend. I wouldn't recommend doing that since it's illegal but that's just one example of why picking one of these up might be a good idea.
