Hi James, I was an extra on this film, which was shot back in back in 2001, and released in 2002. (I was just one of the random faces in the crowd.) There's a lot of facts about the making of this that I want to you to be aware of. I got to know a few of the PA's and crew. and I was close enough to the phone booth to hear the louder dialog.
1. The movie was filmed in downtown Los Angeles.
2. It was filmed sequentially from page 1 to the end, in order. (except for the 2nd unit shots in the beginning that were shot in New York.)
3. The entire film was shot in only 9 days in LA.
4. The breakdown scene by Collin Farrell was a rehearsal take that the director used because it was 75% improvised. (And imo, I think he made the right choice.)
5. The final scene when the shooter talks to Stu in the ambulance, I'm surprised you didn't recognize him. The shooter was Kieffer Sutherland.
I've been waiting a long time for someone to review this movie, and I'm glad it was you. Having been there all 9 days, I guess I'm a little bias about this one. It was truly one of the best experiences of my life. I loved your reaction. Thanks.
This movie is so good❤❤❤
ОтветитьLoL dude was really still chewing that gum when he realized he was hit and went down..
ОтветитьNice reaction. The film was pure entertainment.
ОтветитьI'm so glad to see you talk about how well this movie was made & Colin's performance. It's one of my very favorite movies for so many reasons you pointed out. I think a lot of people just didn't get or appreciate those moments & it's so underrated.
ОтветитьI completely forgot about this movie😂
ОтветитьYeah Colin's acting in this was incredible. His emotions felt 100% real.
ОтветитьI have to hate on this movie for a second. I think that the acting, the audio of the phone call, the actual dialogue are all absolute garbage in this movie.
I have no issue with the premise at all but the execution is just awful
Y’all bums really don’t want to work for your money huh
ОтветитьThis movie is fricking awesome! Very underrated though.
ОтветитьHave you watched Banshees of Inisherin, another great Colin Ferrell vehicle.
ОтветитьForest Whitaker. Forest Steven Whitaker. Gem. SO MANY, SO MANY... No one really realizes it.
ОтветитьPANIC ROOM meets JOHN Q
ОтветитьThought this was super underrated when it came out, glad to see someome appreciating it.
Kinda wish Kieffers voice had more room/ street noise mixed in with it though, as thoigh we were hearing it a little more like Colins character would actually be hearing it. The dead, clean audio kinda takes me out of it.
If you're looking for another movie isolated to a single location, you MUST watch THE SUNSET LIMITED. Samuel L Jackson and Tommy Lee Jones... in a room... all movie. So good.
Also, nobody has made a reaction video for it. Be the trail blazer.
Kiefer Sutherland played an amazing villain in this movie and it’s only his voice, until the end obviously
Ответитьgreat frigging film!!
ОтветитьI was 9 when this came out, and really wanted to watch it for some reason. 😂 My cousins came over to the crib and we rented this, and bringing down the house 😭🤣 This shit is intense!
ОтветитьThese smaller cast movies hit different! Hard Candy is another gem!
ОтветитьI LOVE this movie! This is definitely one of those movie titles that deserves more attention and credit.
If you've never seen this movie it is a must suspenseful thriller! Amazing cast and acting.
Best part of this is the result from the budget: $13 million to make this movie.
How much it make in the box office as a result: $97.8 million!
Not bad payoff for a low budget movie mostly taking place in a phone booth. 😃
I consider this one of Colin Farrell's most underrated performances. I remember seeing this film as a kid and having a big crush on Colin because of his acting (and his good looks too). Love that you reacted to this film.
Ответитьi thought "Liberty stands still" was better
ОтветитьHadnt seen this movie in forever but had a young ben foster talking on his phone
ОтветитьI remember this as one of the movies to actually make my eyes widen like crazy when I saw the toy robot get shot lol.
Ответитьthe banshees of inisherin is his best preference. You have to react to it
ОтветитьThis movie can easily get overlooked as a fun but dumb cheesy movie. Whoch is whybi think it gets overlooked a lot.
But actually giving it a closer look its a very well constructed and well written movie that deserves a lot more attention.
Also side note a lot of kinda the multiscreen camara shots is inspired by the show 24
You want another interesting one that takes place in one spot. Buried with Ryan Reynolds.
ОтветитьI once went to Manhattan and saw a film being shot. It turned out to be the Ben Stiller; Walter Mitty film. I forget the exact location but when I see that film, it gives me a little buzz. Loved that city and the best holiday I’ve ever had. Shout out to the Newark local folk ❤
ОтветитьLove this channel so much. Thank you James.
ОтветитьI loved this movie when it came out. Walked out of the theater and heard two girls talking to each other "That was so stupid. The whole movie was just a guy in a phone booth." I just wanted to scream at them "WHAT DID YOU EXPECT? IT DID EXACTLY WHAT IT SAID ON THE BOX!"
A few years later a group of friends went to see the 2009 Star Trek and when we finished and walked out to the parking lot and a friends wife said "I wouldn't have come if I'd known it was going to be such a nerdy movie." We all just stared at her with a combination of anger and confusion until I was the first to speak up. "It was a Star Trek movie. It was science fiction. How could you possibly not be aware that Star Trek was going to be a nerdy sci-fi movie? WHAT DID YOU THINK IT WAS GOING TO BE?"
This movie is probably the best of the "Person w/phone in dangerous situation" mini-genre of the early 00's. The guy who wrote this movie also wrote the script for 2004's "Cellular". And then there was "Liberty Stands Still" which released the same year as "Phone Booth" and has a similar premise except no booth.
ОтветитьA similar film to the basic premise of this is Liberty Stands Still which stars Linda Fiorentino and Wesley Snipes and incidently came out in 2002 like Phone Booth.
ОтветитьIf you liked this , Check out Tom Hardy in Locke.
ОтветитьI think it's a very cool film. I also think that you canpretty safely say that Colin Farrell carried this film.
ОтветитьPHONEBOOTH: Nobody likes campers.
ОтветитьI watched this movie for the first time after learning New York City got rid of the last phone booth
ОтветитьColin Farrell has got range, it's a shame he wasn't in more things throughout his career. I feel like he got pigeonholed into a few niche characters and wasn't able to exercise his limits. Shame
ОтветитьGood movies similar to this The taking of pelham 123 ( 2009 ), Locke ( 2013 )
ОтветитьThis is a good movie
ОтветитьI have a hunch the red dot wasn't in the original script, but was added digitally by the studio in postproduction because they were afraid it wasn't clear enough who the sniper was aiming at in certain scenes. It's just a theory, but it explains why no one seems to notice it. Plus, the idea of a laser sight painting a visible red dot on its target is largely Hollywood invention, not based on how real guns work.
ОтветитьI think you would really enjoy The Experiment with forest whitaker in it
ОтветитьAnother movie that does a lot in a small space is Life of Pi. I don't want to get into it, but it's a very interesting 11 Oscar nom / 4 of those being wins film.
Ответитьin the same line (playing out in one location) is the movie Margin Call which plays almost entirely inside an office building in NYC. The movie has an absolute star cast and it is one of those movies I have watched over and over again to pick up more and more of the details in the movie.
ОтветитьThis is similar to Dog Day Afternoon in many ways!
ОтветитьI have a suggestion for a very good movie.
The movie is called Stalingrad and is from the 90s, and sadly there isn't even one proper reaction to it, even thou it is one of the best WW2 movies ever made.
It would be really cool if you would give it a try.
That said, i wish you a good day.
Was that Edward Norton's voice at the end
ОтветитьMovies just hit different around this time. They weren't afraid to try different things.
ОтветитьThe pizza guy you can see looks around at all the upper story windows, as if he was being forced as well.
Ответить
