The only thing Papa Varga fails at is convincing the viewer that he cannot speak English.

I like how Mike's tone seems so casual when he's talking to Mr. Varga.

One thing about Papa Varga, Mike walks in and he greeted him with Spanish.
But as soon as Mike spoke Spanish back, he knew from the accent that he's not a native speaker.
So he switched up to English to at least welcome him to the shop even though he doesn't speak that much English.
Papa Varga is a good man

Politically correct scene but still great. Not trying to upsell, huh? That is how you keep yourself alive...every penny.

i like to think they added the subtitles in while nachos dad is speaking because mike already understands spanish. nacho was already translating so it would’ve kept the viewer guessing as to what the dad is saying had there not been subtitles, because nacho is already translating. probably a stretch but just my theory

Nachos dad honestly suffered the most of anyone in this series i feel like. He didnt deserve to lose his son like that

I love how this guy has to pretend not to speak English but he has pretty damn near fluent pronunciation. He's a great actor. I always thought he looks like an retired Mario.

Man nacho would have been successful and happier as a legit businessman. It's a shame he chose the gangster life.

Nacho is a great character (and great actor). A tough guy who isn't really a tough guy and is not a sociopath enough to be in the drug world he is navigating in.

It's fun trying to figure out what places they're filming these shots at and ironically a lot of them are near my house... They might change the name sometimes but I know my town pretty good... I know exactly where this shot was done...

what people dont even know or noticed, is that mike even had 1 of his guys call the shop so that he and nacho could have a word about business. mike really plans things through, and he has the makings of a varsity athlete.

We still love Papa Varga.

As someone (a white guy someone) that lives and grew up in a town with a 50% Latino population, this whole interaction seems very realistic.

That's bad business for Nacho. That midlife crisis of a vehicle already had police attention. Nacho would want to steer clear of it as much as possible.

So wherever the dad's honorable, the son is a criminal, but if the dad's a criminal, the son is honorable.

I like when Nacho tries to threaten Mike, Mike just casually steps in and leans his arms on the car door.

So how does that work?

Manuel is so wholesome. It's sad that his son lived the tragic life that he did.

In my head, mike originally goes there to confront Nacho but actually is taken in by his dad and starts considering getting his car reupholstered

This was the most realistic part of the show. There’s no way you are going to be able to run your underground empire without bumping into the lowlifes somewhere in your regular life
