Have you ever tested tires for treadwear wear.. 100vs 200vs 300vs 400vs 500???
For normal street tires...

Hi J, it would really be great if u could test semi slicks in 19” on 1/4m stretch to see which tyre performs the best and give the best times.

I haven’t seen such a test by anyone, and it leaves a huge gap in the market.

I really hope u can make this a realisation.

Regards

i use winter tires ( bridgestone blizzak ws90) for my 2020 Civic Si sedan manual, But for the rest of the season, which tire do you recommend for daily use? Which is used mainly in the city and on the freeway, sometimes on the drag on the freeway, and also for traveling several thousand km comfortably. Choices are Michelin PS4S and Bridgestone Potenza RE71RS ..

Hi, could anyone help me choose best tyre for my crossover with 255/45/20 rim size? I have only these options available and wanna choose the most comfort one:
1. Nexen nfera Supreme(N5000 Platinum) ($175),
2. Nankang SP-9 Cross-Sport ($115), and
3. Giti Sport S2 Suv ($125).

G'day. I have the re71rs on my v8 commodore and have found a cold start pressure of 22psi and 27psi hot. It gets slippery above 29psi. What are your thoughts on pressure for this tyre?

Hi Jon, may I know if you have ever tested advan a050, more specifically the M compound in dry conditions. If so, I am curious what do you think of that as a comparison to the RE71RS?

Hi mate, noob question. When heat cycling semi slicks for the first time, do they need to be heat cycled straight away the first time you drive on them?
Because i will have them on my daily... Just not sure if i need to heat cycle them before i change my springs and i wont get a wheel alignment until i get the springs. In a perfect world i will do all this on the dame day.

Thank you for this helpful video. I am planning to buy them for the next summer. The question is that... Do they support the rainy road like ones I experience in Canada? How is the performance of such tires in the rain please.

Takes me back to my Integra type r days ( when I was a young man) the annual hunt for Bridgestone Potenza RE010, phenomenal on warm dry days, abysmal in the wet, park the car from Nov to Mar and walk to work . Silly comment ( I know) but bought back memories.

In the USA we have whats called no prep drag racing and one of the "classes" we have is called hard tire. Requires a 220 treadwear rated tire. Usualy which are not great racing compounds. Or have soft sidewalls and "cup" to much on a hard launch. People having good sucess with reinforced sidewall tires like a runflat in one instance... would you have a tire in mind that you think would work well? Or a few to try and test.??

I know they might not be available to civilians, but would you consider doing a review of police pursuit tyres? A quick search yielded only three brands (Goodyear, Firestone by Bridgestone, and General by Continental) but there might be more. TIA!

I was really excited for the Potenza Race given the positive feedback until I saw the price. Bridgestone wants $718 USD(!!!!) for the rear size on my Camaro and doesn't even offer a 285 width for the front wheels. Going to stick with the stock Goodyears at about $350 each

I’m a little confused on this. The Race tire is between the sport and re71 and it’s the competitor to the Cup 2s? I would say the RE71 are on par with the Cup 2s and I’d be pressed to decide between the two as the better tire.

I have a 2017 RS3 with JRZ clubsport coilovers and enjoy some spirited driving but do not go on track. I was thinking of going for the bridgestone potenza race. Would you agree?

Thanks :)

Does the weight of the car make any noticeable difference in longevity of tread wear on tyres ? Say for instance that a car has a 4cyl engine or a heavier 6cyl or just the way the car is set up mechanically like the transfer case at the front or back or rear engine cars, will that play a part in howling a tyre can last ?

An awesome video, as always. I was browsing Bridgestone's website afterwards and they have added the Potenza Sport A/S to the lineup. Seems to be an all-new more performance-oriented UHP all-season tire. It's unclear if it will complement or replace the re980AS+. Something for a future comparison test versus the Conti DWS06+ and the Michelin PSAS4...

Thank you for the review! I used to daily a RE71(no S) tires in my home country where there were lots of twisty roads, and it was a lot of fun. But since moving to the US, I found most of the road in the US are just a straight highway and roads aren't as curvy here. That's why I went for Potenza Sport tires with a 300 treadwear rating and more tire depth. I've often wondered if I should've picked the RE71S tires for more fun on the road. From your review, it looks like the Potenza Sport is better for road driving, and I'm not missing out on anything. 😄

By the way, is there any chance that you could review the "Bridgestone Potenza RE980AS PLUS"? Everyone is saying that it's the best all-season tire for spirited driving, and I am quite surprised that Bridgestone has included an all-season tire in the Potenza series. I want to see how it performs compared to the Potenza sport for road driving. I know that an all-season tire is usually worse than a summer tire, but is the difference significant?

About the cold performance of the race. At 1 degree centigrade the grip isn’t good. Every standard tire will exceed the grip easily

I ran the Race on track. I was 0.3sec faster than with the cup 2 on Anneau du Rhin. Ok the Cup 2 was 215/45 R17 and the Race a 225/45 R17. But on the stright i was 5km/h slower with the Race. Love the Race (my Cup 2 fell apart, for real) hope the race want do that. How ever the front have to be changed after 10kkm and one track day.

I believe I've seen reports of 3-4% in durability with the re71rs. For me, that translates into an additional 240-320 miles of use; I usually get 8k functional street/canyon miles out of the previous version. I can't wait to try them with new, wider wheels 🙂
