I'm not sure about your hypercasual assessment, that it'll go away. I always thought "why do people keep making complex s**t, ain't nobody got time for that". I also just want to be able to download something, understand it right away and not have to learn game mechanics for hours. I think that's the difference between a "gamer" who really has the time to dive deep into something and the "casual gamer". I play Starcraft on the PC, but I learned that when I was young and had the time. But I always found it weird to play a complex game on mobile, even though I gave some complex games a shot.

If you want to make that building game better: You can make there be floors, and each block up is a floor, after you get to 50 floors, you get 2 blocks, so will make 2 floors at once, and the number can go up by 1 for every 50 until you are making 5 floors at once. After that, you could make it so every 100 floors is a story, so your players have a goal... to make as many stories as possible. And by time you start making stories every minute, every 2 stories can make you make 5 more floors, until you are at 15 floors. For unlocks, you can start with rocks,wood, then go up through ever metal material, until you unlock building peices, then go through different types of buildings until you get hotel peices. This will give a lot of unlock possibilities. The game can be named Scrape the Sky

Moral of the story: Don't trust your intellectual property with a third party. You got $2500 in ad revenue off of 400,000+ downloads? Bro, you got ripped off. That means that each user contributed 0.006 cents. I assure you, ads pay more than that, even on apps with less than 100 downloads.
If I had to take a guess, Bulky Pics probably pocketed the majority of the revenue from your game (as well as others), then declared bankruptcy so they could legally dissolve any financial obligations to developers. Basically, they made off with hundreds of thousands at your expense.

Then there was the publisher that stole your idea. Yep. That's why you never submit an idea to a third party without them first signing an explicit contract forbidding them from using your idea should they reject you. Publishers exist to make money, and they'll cheerfully take advantage of shovelware developers' naivety to that end. Just remember - if you think your idea is worthy of being submitted to a publisher, the publisher will likely think it's a neat idea too.

I'd rather handle the whole shebang on my own. Develop and market it myself. The digital market is a ruthless free-for-all; trust no one.
