The RHODES MK8 is INCREDIBLE.

if this MK8 sounds just as the Fender Rhodes of Rob Franken, who was the first in Europe who played on that instrument, then I am confinced. He was family, so I played a lot on that Fender in his studio. now this instrument is in the hands of Karel Boehlee.

Does Fender still own Rhodes or are they their own thing now?

The Rhodes is just unique in her own right! The piano is a REAL thing and a sound that in the 70s and part of the 80s…a piano I will never get tired of listening to!

It’s an amazing machine but it medfly I wouldn’t exchange with my MarkI 1979

I needed a portable keyboard that wasn't a backbreaker for a small Quartet in the mid 70's and I got hold of a Rhodes suitcase model .... First of all, The action Sucked, it felt like the keys should press down more ...No matter how I tweaked the pickups, the thing just had no bite at all .... always sounded mushy, but it split in two, and 2 guys could break their backs putting into the truck....
I basically hated it .... Used to have a bag full of replacement tines with me....
Would never fail ..... play the first hour of a job, band would go on break, naturally either the F, or Middle C, or G would break .....
I'm sweating my ass off trying to cut a tine and get it working for the next set ....

Finally , got rid of it, Hammond came out with the X5 Portable that split in pieces, but I had to drag a Leslie around ... At least it worked and was pretty reliable.... and it had balls when you needed it.

With sampled Rhodes sounds all over the place , I would never buy that board again.

By the way , that was when I was about 20 yrs. Old. I'm 68 now and My Back is completely Destroyed, can barely walk .... That's the price the keyboard player pays!

It´s funny. i own the Mark 1.......and the Mark 8 sounds simply sterile......and 8000 dollar are ridiculous. Who pays this ?

Shiny black plastic will show scratches. Terrible gigging tool. Repaint it matte finish.

it's good that they went back to the origin with the oldschool but still modern design.
i don't see a point in getting one since my refurbished mk1 with custom-built pre-amp does about the same for a fraction of the cost but it's still a nice option.
