This is one of the worst performances Ive seen from an opera singer. So aggressive and short breathed, this is not the way it suppose to be. It sounds cheap and untalented. For people saying this is perfect blablabla have simply no taste nor knowledge about classical opera.

I've heard people make these comments and can only guess they are repeating others' opinions because they have no sensibility or taste. This music, and these musicians, demonstrate the full range of Baroque emotion: grandiose, opulent, thrilling, even explosive. A big part of Baroque music is painting musical pictures: angry waves, gentle breezes, and with musical tropes that were universally understood as depicting joy or sorrow; these are still part of our musical DNA. Notice how the vocal line and instrumental s use the same musical materials: Baroque composers did not always differentiate between instruments and voices, singers need the same virtuosity as violinists! Bartoli - what can one say? It's like this music was written for her. ❤
