This show was dead nuts crazy and fun. Not real or realistic, but so good.

Its best to watch what the MMA fighter does to the girl before this scene. He deserved every bit of that beating.

Bas Rutten said it best. If you poke a a guy who has you in a rear naked choke, all that's going to do is turn an honor duel into a fight to the death. You were already losing, what makes you think escalating is the right way to go about it.

Then again, the dirty moves in this fight scene would've made more cinematic sense if they showed that the trained guy is a rich bully who's heart has never been truly tested and doesn't have a warrior spirit. Imagine biting Nate Diaz when he has a triangle, he'd just squeeze harder and use your jaw to staunch the bleeding.

this show could have been massive. im kind of glad it didnt(granted im only on season 2 episode 9). So many shows run past a natural end point and are extended waaaay too long.

Imo if you cut out the last season this is a show that could at moments rival Breaking Bad.

I remember when this came out, all MMA nerds were bitching about Hood biting him to get out of hold. This is a street fight, not an octagon. What was he supposed to do, sit there an wait to get his arm broken? Lol Bruce Lee even said, biting is great in close quarter combat. But if you go in ready to bite, it's a good way to lose your teeth.

This was a street fight, there are no rules in a street fight. Once you are engaged in a street fight it is full on tooth and nails combat. Fight with everything at your disposal.

Somebody pointed out that the scene is better shot than I expected. In the early stages of the fight, they're in Sanchez's ring and fighting "by the rules", and thus Sanchez has the upper hand. Once Hood is kicked out of the ring, the "rules" go away and he fights dirty, eventually winning. Really nice touch by the writer/director.

I have never followed rules I learned mix martial arts as an infantryman.

I always saw this as hood setting him up, hood knew he could take more than that guy could dish out.

The Best Show on TV most people have no clue about. It was great start to finish. So many amazing fight scenes.

Such a good show. It's funny your reaction to the brutal scenes of the same as mine. The first time I seen it I couldn't even watch it. There's so many disgusting parts of that show that like I couldn't even look at in normally. I'm pretty unfazed by stuff. Such a good watch. Kind of upsetting. It only lasted four seasons but it ended well

I wish you pointed out that the reason he was getting his ass kicked in the ring was because that's where he was still playing "by the rules" but once they fell out of the ring there was no more rules and he could unleash his full potential.

Call it a sport all you want, eye gouges, ear biting, throw it all in there and I still guarantee none of this shit gets pulled off against the likes of Gordon Ryan. How are you gonna eye gouge when you are mounted in an arm triangle? How are gonna bite when that same arm triangle has an arm of corded steel under your throat and you can't even open your mouth to breath, much less bite? This is silly, I've been in fights with people trying this shit, it doesn't work unless your opponent is an equally unskilled and idiotic "street fighter". If all this was so great, why didn't it work during the anything goes Gym Storming days of the early Gracies? People tried to bite and gouge then too, it failed. If all fighting took was being dirty, no one would lose fights lol. This fight only goes so long because the "MMA Guy" who is ultimately still an actor, is showing off and grandstanding.
In the first two minutes when he knocks Hood to the ground he doesn't even follow him for a back take, that's fucking silly. If your only defense as to why ground fighting doesn't work is that some dipshits ten friends can jump in, well good luck, because my friends also do MMA and I like our chances a whole lot better if you decide to cross that line. Also, several people jumping in doesn't make the fighting ineffective, because you are delusional if you think you as a regular fucking joe without MMA training are standing on your feet and doing anything but getting knocked out trying to fight several people. Yall watch too many fucking movies and that alone proves it. If several people are trying to jump you, you fucking run, it's not a fight any longer. Grappling vs Striking and even trying to have that conversation about multiple attackers only serves to highlight how unrealistic your brain is looking at these situations.

In those fights, you don’t just stop if the opponent is mildly incapacitated, you keep going until they’re not moving anymore, because as soon as you get off them, they might do a number of things to you if they catch you off guard, thinking the fight is over.
