It looks great but the river looks prone to flooding so not sure I would want to live in the ground when the water level raises.

That's a cool setup and I love that house. Only thing I would warn him on is that tree roots can be deadly to concrete. You may not even notice it happening until there's a giant crack, but realistically you should keep trees at least 5 feet away from a house, 10 to be on the safe side.
