This list is comprised of ten emotional favorites, out of many hundreds of speakers I've experienced. So sure, many dozens of excellent speakers are left out.

All of this may be for pop music, symphonic, concert.
So, i think, they are not for black and satanic metal. Most of them have a blanket of bright almost noise.
I am sorry for those who review only the best buy sectors.

Why is it that the Klipsch Quartet never make any list, in fact it's almost like a forgotten model?

The LS50 is amazing not for the sound, there are far better speakers that sound less plastic sounding. LS50 is amazing in wireless form for its utility and acceptable sound. Every other speaker I have loved has been very large with large cables and lots of equipment but today I settle for less sound and playing from Apple Music wirelessly.

Bought a pair of Acoustic Research 93’s in 1981. Probably worlds away from what you guys listen to but they crushed my living room. Still have them today although they could use a refresh.

Speakers are like food. Some people like your taste in food, but others don't. It can not be discussed, and everyone is different.

Klipsch RP-600m ii being on this list makes me doubt everything else he's mentioned. It's slightly below average for it's price range and nothing you would want to keep long term.

Great review. I remember being awestruck by a pair of Gallos at Ambrosia Audio (now Weinhart Design) years ago, as well as amazing experiences with the Wilson Watt Puppies. Haven you ever fallen in love (or had a brief affair) with VonSchweikert speakers?

The term “Reference” is meaningless in today’s audio, because it’s primarily “Preference” to the consumer.

I got together with a few friends and we compared our speakers. Klipshorns, Altec19 and JBL L300 Summits. They were not even close in their sound, but all were enjoyable. I wish I took a picture!

Genesis Prime (AKA Infinity IRSV's) I was lucky enough to hear Paul Revels pair in around 1980 when I worked for him at Audio Excellence - hated them becuase it was a sound I could never repeat - Tracy Chapman punching me in the guts and smashing her guitar over my head - unrepeatable moment in my life - some of the kit from rmory - Mark Levinson Monos x4 - Audio Research SP9 - Krell Cd - Mitchell Synchro - cables like fire hoses

It's not that I don't appreciate Steve, but I strongly recommend attending audio shows yourself - you be the judge. AXPONA, Capital or the Florida International Audio Expo. You can listen to an amazing assortment of gear and judge for yourself what works for YOU! These shows are fun, great people and zero sales pressure.

I'm still running my Yamaha NS-1000 Monitors from the late 70's I purchased in high school. Black cases weigh nearly 100 lbs. and still have original cloth front covers. Best speakers ever made in my opinion. Driven by my original Yamaha 2040 receiver. Hooked up to Sonos! Equipment is over 40 years old!!! Still use it all the time. Priceless!

I rather like my Mark II Beolab 8000s paired with a Beolab 19 subwoofer and a pair of Townshend Supertweeters.
Driven by a Beogram 3300 , a Project DS2 Phomo tube pre amp , a Beocenter 2 and a Beolink amp fir the tweeters .
It sounds bloody good !
I have it all wired into a BnO 10 tv and Beolab 4000 as rear speakers for any movies really works well I love Bang and Olufsen 👍

B&W 801 Matrix IV Unbelievable Sound! I remember hearing them being auditioned by some other people and I was standing to the side not even close to the sweet spot for stereo imaging and it seemed like I was not listening to a sound system but a fully immersive 3D holographic sound field. I owned some B&W DM series which were very good and affordable speakers which also used the same tweeter in the 801s! Amazing detail and extended high frequency response. Which it turns out is needed for musical realism to reproduce high frequency harmonics (an accurate copy of the harmonic envelope)of cymbals, pianos or flutes that extend beyond 20K hz. But this a tricky balance because it is also easy for that kind of frequency response to sound too hard or hot or have a lot of harsh irritating noise and hash in the high registers. Interestingly I think my NAD PE receiver (modestly powered but with good current output capacity and high peak power dynamic headroom tested with complex waveforms under real world load conditions)may have unexpectedly unintendedly helped in this area because it contained a special design feature of a soft clipping circuit!
