This list is comprised of ten emotional favorites, out of many hundreds of speakers I've experienced. So sure, many dozens of excellent speakers are left out.
ОтветитьAll of this may be for pop music, symphonic, concert.
So, i think, they are not for black and satanic metal. Most of them have a blanket of bright almost noise.
I am sorry for those who review only the best buy sectors.
Open Baffle speaker companies are not going like it because Fischer & Fischer Slate speakers has come to the USA now ! 😇😊😂😀 GAME-CHANGER....
ОтветитьYou haven't heard IMF electronics yet....
ОтветитьWhy is it that the Klipsch Quartet never make any list, in fact it's almost like a forgotten model?
ОтветитьRubbish
ОтветитьBack in the day if you had the power to drive them the dahlquist phased array speakers were my favorite. Did you ever hear them?
ОтветитьThe LS50 is amazing not for the sound, there are far better speakers that sound less plastic sounding. LS50 is amazing in wireless form for its utility and acceptable sound. Every other speaker I have loved has been very large with large cables and lots of equipment but today I settle for less sound and playing from Apple Music wirelessly.
ОтветитьCompletely happy with both
ОтветитьI owe my choices to Steve . Magnepan LRS+with EmotivaXPA2 and Klipsch LaScalaAL5 with Rogue Audio Cronus Magnum III
ОтветитьBought a pair of Acoustic Research 93’s in 1981. Probably worlds away from what you guys listen to but they crushed my living room. Still have them today although they could use a refresh.
ОтветитьAcapella Excalibur .
ОтветитьSo, the main takeaway is Steve has had the same haircut since the 70s.
ОтветитьSpeakers are like food. Some people like your taste in food, but others don't. It can not be discussed, and everyone is different.
ОтветитьMeyer HD-1s. Nothing like 'em
ОтветитьKlipsch RP-600m ii being on this list makes me doubt everything else he's mentioned. It's slightly below average for it's price range and nothing you would want to keep long term.
ОтветитьBought my Heresy H100 in 1975, excellent sound today
ОтветитьInteresting but never heard of most of these. What's your opinion of Paradigm speakers?
ОтветитьGreat review. I remember being awestruck by a pair of Gallos at Ambrosia Audio (now Weinhart Design) years ago, as well as amazing experiences with the Wilson Watt Puppies. Haven you ever fallen in love (or had a brief affair) with VonSchweikert speakers?
ОтветитьThe term “Reference” is meaningless in today’s audio, because it’s primarily “Preference” to the consumer.
ОтветитьWhere' s the JBL L112? I don' t trust this NY Jew...
ОтветитьI got together with a few friends and we compared our speakers. Klipshorns, Altec19 and JBL L300 Summits. They were not even close in their sound, but all were enjoyable. I wish I took a picture!
ОтветитьGenesis Prime (AKA Infinity IRSV's) I was lucky enough to hear Paul Revels pair in around 1980 when I worked for him at Audio Excellence - hated them becuase it was a sound I could never repeat - Tracy Chapman punching me in the guts and smashing her guitar over my head - unrepeatable moment in my life - some of the kit from rmory - Mark Levinson Monos x4 - Audio Research SP9 - Krell Cd - Mitchell Synchro - cables like fire hoses
ОтветитьI will admit that a few of these I anticipated like the Wilsons, but was quite pleasantly surprised to see Maggies and Vandersteens included. Great list. Thanks.
ОтветитьI miss all of my old pieces.
ОтветитьI need a recommendation on choosing a pair of speakers to replace my Maggie 1.6 qr.
my room size is 10 by 10 feet. I want to keep budget between $1000 to $1600.
Yes, I am not a big believer in best WRT audio gear but your "most memorable" resonates with me.
ОтветитьHow is it that you didn't include audio physics speakers? In your reviews? I find them to be about the best song to speak I've ever heard.
ОтветитьOutstanding! Thank you sir.
ОтветитьInfinity IRS Epsilon 😌
ОтветитьI build my own. I use JBL drivers. Heavy, well braced, thick plywood enclosures. Ported with the correct cu ft. Couple different pairs. They sound nice.
ОтветитьI dont disagree with anyones choice of speakers, its so personal!!! I love my 1993 definitive technology bp20s bipolar still have them and love them
ОтветитьIt's not that I don't appreciate Steve, but I strongly recommend attending audio shows yourself - you be the judge. AXPONA, Capital or the Florida International Audio Expo. You can listen to an amazing assortment of gear and judge for yourself what works for YOU! These shows are fun, great people and zero sales pressure.
ОтветитьI loved the early/mid 80's Acoustic Research speakers. Had the 58's and AR9Lsi's.
ОтветитьI'm still running my Yamaha NS-1000 Monitors from the late 70's I purchased in high school. Black cases weigh nearly 100 lbs. and still have original cloth front covers. Best speakers ever made in my opinion. Driven by my original Yamaha 2040 receiver. Hooked up to Sonos! Equipment is over 40 years old!!! Still use it all the time. Priceless!
ОтветитьDuntech sovereigns with mark Levinson driving Still have the ml 20.6s
Or infinity IRS
I’m still listening to a pair of JBL L300 summit’s that I somehow have held onto since the late seventies.
ОтветитьHave you listened to any of Danny Ricci's speakers? How would you rate them? GR research is one of my favorite systems.
ОтветитьI'm surprised the
MBL 101 Xtreme didn't make it on your list. Have you ever had your hearing checked
This vid made me feel good! I am new to better sound and learning and enjoying more every day! As I was building my knowledge of higher end audio components I learned Dynaudio drivers were used in other companies speakers so I bought a pair of Contour's second hand and I love them!
ОтветитьHi 👋! Watch U All the Time. I Was Wondering 🤔 💭, Far As HOME THEATER 🎥 Set Up Goes, Would U Pick Klipsch ( The Latest Of Both Of Course!) Or Kefs Or Arendal Or Martin Logan F2 Ect.Ect For Your Set Up???
ОтветитьI rather like my Mark II Beolab 8000s paired with a Beolab 19 subwoofer and a pair of Townshend Supertweeters.
Driven by a Beogram 3300 , a Project DS2 Phomo tube pre amp , a Beocenter 2 and a Beolink amp fir the tweeters .
It sounds bloody good !
I have it all wired into a BnO 10 tv and Beolab 4000 as rear speakers for any movies really works well I love Bang and Olufsen 👍
Ohm Walsh?
ОтветитьFun and relatable video! My main listening setup is Magneplanar MG IIIa, JBL B380 subwoofer, BX63 crossover driven by two Adcom GFA 555s.
Ответитьwithout any considering high-quality active monitors (audiophiles often don't even know them) this list is in my opinion incomplete. Some of the passive loudspeakers mentioned would then fall out of the list😅😁
ОтветитьGreat
ОтветитьB&W 801 Matrix IV Unbelievable Sound! I remember hearing them being auditioned by some other people and I was standing to the side not even close to the sweet spot for stereo imaging and it seemed like I was not listening to a sound system but a fully immersive 3D holographic sound field. I owned some B&W DM series which were very good and affordable speakers which also used the same tweeter in the 801s! Amazing detail and extended high frequency response. Which it turns out is needed for musical realism to reproduce high frequency harmonics (an accurate copy of the harmonic envelope)of cymbals, pianos or flutes that extend beyond 20K hz. But this a tricky balance because it is also easy for that kind of frequency response to sound too hard or hot or have a lot of harsh irritating noise and hash in the high registers. Interestingly I think my NAD PE receiver (modestly powered but with good current output capacity and high peak power dynamic headroom tested with complex waveforms under real world load conditions)may have unexpectedly unintendedly helped in this area because it contained a special design feature of a soft clipping circuit!
