Try being born with night terrors, annoyingly repeated sometimes and always fucked up beyond, and yes as you are waking up your eyes will see them still but then it's nothing, every single night of my life since I was a baby, constantly having nightmares. Well anyways I just go with it or laugh or not move, thinking that it will just give up, but it can make you move sometimes, and the most weird thing is I can feel intense pain from my bad dreams, and wake up still kinda feeling that pain, no marks on me, not always anyway. Dreams suck.

When I was a small kid I also had nightmares all the time, and at first while it seemed uncomfortable at first, but then it actually started to become my favorite part of dreaming.
It didn't truly matter if I lost or won against whatever eldritch abomination I met, because the fear of being caught gave them a game like feature. I even actually made a friend with a bloody lovecraftian demon (I had never seen gore at the time so I have no idea why it looked like that).

As I started getting older my dreams started getting more tame so I stopped having these dreams, weirdly enough I actually kind of miss my nightmares.

I know I’m late, but for everyone commenting about recurring, frequent, and vivid nightmares, please go get that checked out by a sleep doctor. It is not just a possible sign of trauma, but sleep apnea/sleep paralysis/narcolepsy and more health issues. I had no idea until I went myself. Apparently it’s not normal or healthy because your sleep is no longer restful. Hang in there, everyone!

I also have nightmares pretty consistently. First time I experienced sleep paralysis, I was having what seemed like a normal dream, my mom was waking up my brothers for school and I was waiting for her to knock on my door and when heard her walk to my door, I suddenly knew it was gonna be a little girl? And then when she opened my door a wave of fear washed over me and I legitimately couldn't turn over for the life of me until I was so scared I woke up.
It felt unbelievably real at the time and the not being able to move part is also terrifying.
I've had 2 since then but don't remember them
