Question: In the outer Query, What would happen if you used the Employee Table instead of the CTE table for joining? Wont the result be the same?
Also calling CTE table twice in the JOIN, does that mean the recursion happens twice?

Please explain below query:
with cte(ID,Itemname,Catid,TotalQuantity)

select ID+1,Itemname,Catid+1,TotalQuantity from cte
where Catid+1 <= TotalQuantity
)
Select * from cte order by Itemname,ID

How does the above recursive CTE query works? Below is the Table structure:

CREATE TABLE ITEM
(
Itemname VARCHAR(10),
Quantity INT
)
INSERT INTO ITEM(Itemname,Quantity) values('Apple',2)
INSERT INTO ITEM(Itemname,Quantity) values('Orange',3)

For every matching selection in "recursive member" query (2nd part), the CTE table gets refreshed in course of Sql JOIN check, until condition invalidates due to null.
