Hello, do you recommend Model Color over Game Color ?:) I want to buy one of those big sets and I cant find a real difference. Except realism and vibrancy
ОтветитьBit odd to leave out Tamiya but informative none the less
ОтветитьVallejo is great for hand painting, recommend them hands down (pun unintended). not so much for airbrushing.
ОтветитьI would like to see the new AP fanatics range tested and added to this line up to see if it beats vallejo
Ответитьyou need a new caparison with army painter Fanatic line.
ОтветитьNice to see Reaper getting some love! Interesting tests!
ОтветитьI know you guys are obviously busy, but it would be nice if this was tested a bit more scientifically, so more standardised and double-blind or at least blind.
Paint the exact same miniature, with the same amount of time per miniature, and the same (or very similar) colour scheme.
The colour scheme should at least consist the colours that most often give problems, like white, metalics, and magenta.
Someone else puts the chosen colours per brand in small pots with an ID code on them, that only that person knows (after checking the computer file).
In the end you can even put all the miniatures next to each other for an amazing shot at the end.
Squidmar, I love your channel and It is amazing hearing you bring up SWM paints. The mech paints were good but their weathering paints are fantastic. To test the Secret Weapon Miniature paints you would need access to their initial line of weathering paints. The Tire Black Rubber and Rubber Highlight made for the smoothest and most amazing black painting I had seen ever. They are literally my favorite paints for years now. There just is not a better alternative from any of the paint manufacturers of acrylic paint. And many of their other weathering paints are also incredible. If you ever find anyone with any for sale, give them a try as I would love to see what you can do with them. Reaper paints have a flow improver in every bottle.
ОтветитьAll my Vallejo is garbage, doesnt adhere, bottles plug, separate, dry out. And price for how low quality they are is nuts. About 3x price of golden per ml
ОтветитьUseful video, but I had a bad experience with Vallejo box...
ОтветитьThanks a lot!! Nice and interesting video!!
Ответить@SquidmarMiniatures Any chance of you doing a review of the new Warpaints Fanatic Range of Army Painter? I'd be really interested in your opinion on them? 🙂
ОтветитьI would love to see Vallejo go up against Army Painters new Fanatic range. Supposedly the “best paint, in the world.”
ОтветитьI plan to paint Heroes3 miniatures.
I will try Vallejo. Just need to find which colors and medium I need :}
Interesting it pronounced as "vah-YEH-ho", but not "va-LEJ-o" :X
ОтветитьSurprised they didn't like Pro Acryl as much
ОтветитьHow you gonna put walmart paint against citadel paint? lol
ОтветитьWhat are your thoughts on the Reaper HD paints? I've heard very mixed things.
ОтветитьI totally love my Pro-Acryl paints, I have the full range, including metallics, transparent, fluorescent and washes… they never let me down… I have Vallejo also but definitely would not swap if I had to choose only one paint system 🤷🏻♂️
ОтветитьFor the final, it should have been a blind test and the same mini per brand. Then had a final category of viewers choice of the finished product. At the end of the day tests like these come down to individual opinions, what works for some might not for others. Still a great video none the less.
ОтветитьAs a vallejo fanboy: 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
ОтветитьI have a whole load of vallejo paints in a store like a 10 min walk away from me so its great to see that they are really good ( well top tier coming from you guys ). Ill have to pick some up soon.
ОтветитьAdriatic Blue is my favorite color. But I can't stand Scale75. Its chalky. All their colors are not just the whites. Its like painting an entire white contrast mini using citadel. Also blind test would have been better.
ОтветитьBadger airbrush also makes a good water based paint.....
Ответитьcan you please remake this but blind/with actual brands range, then write your score separately to stay objective and argue about it?
ОтветитьI may be alone on this but I just don’t understand why people like NMM more than just using metallic paint. Sure it can be impressive when done right, but I think I’ve seen 3 paint jobs where I couldn’t tell it was NMM and to me that’s the mark of success with it, not being able to tell. And it just saves time. Again just my opinion.
Does anyone else get a big smile on their face when Emil and Lukas say Vallejo?😂
Also Citadel did a lot better than I thought they would. Mainly because I always hear people shitting on them but to me the only real downside is the price for what you get.
Absolutely agree can’t beat the OG Vallejo, love their paints, I own a couple hundred bottles from several of their ranges. They are so consistently great that I just don’t bother very much with the other ranges anymore. Thanks guys, really great test, enjoyed both videos!
ОтветитьYou ever try 2 thin coats? I’d love to hear your thoughts
ОтветитьI know I'm about to lable myself as a heretic...
But what about mixing various brands of paint.
Yeah, I know, I'm evil...
Thanks for testing. What is for you a perfect green, margenta or turkoise for expand a vallejo-paint-set?
ОтветитьI have watched this several times and I think you should try it again. Use the same mini for every test. You should paint a series of minis with every paint. The paint should be blind third party prep and records kept until the end. This will prevent your obvious bias towards Vallejo paint.
ОтветитьYou could just rate every set of paints post the scores and stop pretending paint can compete with paint.
ОтветитьCan you recommend an online shop for paints in Europe ?
ОтветитьHey guys! Just re-watched this pair of videos, and I can't help but wonder if it's time for a re-match? So much has changed since you made these, and it's been what, two years? Model Color and Game Color both got overhauled, Army Painter re-invented itself with Fanatics, Duncan Rhodes launched Two Thin Coats, and Ammo made Atom(which I've not seen any mini painters review). I'm sure I'm forgetting at least a line or two at least. What do you think?
Ответитьno.
ОтветитьI do Windsor and Newton oil paints. Once you learn how to use them it's no going back. Way cheaper too.
ОтветитьWhat an idiot!
ОтветитьP3 is made near my local hobby shop. Or at least they used to.
ОтветитьBut how do they taste?
ОтветитьHow much did Vallejo pay you for this verdict? I think the massive Vallejo provided paint stands in the studio give it away.
ОтветитьJUST AS THEY DID PAINT TESTS, THEY SHOULD DO THE BRUSH TESTS TOO
ОтветитьI absolutely love reaper MSP piants when I can find them, they are so thicc.
ОтветитьBattle of the Paints 2024 edition? So many new ranges have come out!
ОтветитьThat was the best plug-in add I've ever seen🤣
ОтветитьThe sponsorship part is absolutely killing me, I love it.
ОтветитьGolden is carried by the art store in my neighborhood. I'm glad to hear they work for miniatures! Still, the smallest tube I can get is 60 ml. No one around me carries Vallejo, so it might be worth the investment.
ОтветитьI was screaming "but what about the range as a whole" all the way until you got to it at the end. This is especially important for noobs; they want to be able to buy a relatively complete set and just top up whatever they end up using. Vallejo make great paints but lately they have pretty much stopped selling meaningful "full spectrum" sets, so you have to know what you want. AK on the other hand do an amazing job in that regard (as do some of the others).
ОтветитьIt's a bit unfair to downgrade the Vallejo Model Colour Range for not having the brighter colours...the Game colour range was specifically created to compete in that area. I think they were all formulated to give equivalencies to what the Citadel colour range was at the time too.
I have a mix of Vallejo and Citadel, but am phasing the citadel out purely because of the drying pots. I want to try Reaper and AK now.
