This goes back a way, but to me, one of the very worst Oscar wins was Joel Grey in Cabaret. Why? I see that movie & still can't understand why they gave that to him ...

I really couldn't care less about the Oscars but I totally agree with the #1 Renée Zellweger travesty. Her southern accent in Cold Mountain was ridiculous. It alone turned me off on the movie. Being from the region and familiar with several variants of southern draw, it was painfully fake and forced yet she won an Oscar.

In my opinion:
1. Angela Bassett should have won for Wakanda Forever.
2. Linda Blair should have won for The Exorcist.
3. Sylvester Stallone should have won for Creed.
4. Kate Winslet should have won for Titanic.
5. Lady Gaga should have won for A Star is Born.
6. Shohreh Aghdashloo should have won for House of Sand and Fog.
7. Sigourney Weaver should have won for Gorillas in the Mist.

I think most people are now aware that the Academy Awards are influenced and controlled by internal politics and promotional money rather than actual talent and performance. That being said, I am surprised that Gwenyth Paltrow is not on this list

Bullock won because of the race issue, same with Ali. The Academy panders sickeningly to minorities. Hayes won because she was old and still working. Louise wasn't that great and Mills was bad. Ryan's Daughter is a lousy film but Hollywood loves when someone plays a simpleton, a retarded person (Cliff Robertson in Charlie). That Rami guy stinks. Pickford was personally popular and had clout. Zellweger was awful and so was the film.

Oscars are, and have always have been, political. Hattie McDaniel winning Best Supporting Actress for Gone with The Wind was one of the few deserved blind-side wins.

Aside from Suspicion, Butterfield 8 and Airport, all the films were BORE fests. Still even in suspicion Joan shouldn't have won the Oscar, Nor Helen for Airplane. But I'm okay with the Liz win, just because. lol Str8 dude Rami certainly didn't deserve that Oscar. PS, leave Cold Mountain alone. That totally from YOUR perspective lol

Second strike for this commentator saying Hugh Grant does deserve an Oscar the only way that man deserves an Oscar is if you melt it down turn it into bullets and award him it at Extreme velocity and finally third strike for this commentator saying Remy Malik doesn't deserve an Oscar shameful.

But she should have never won the Oscar for Blue Jesmin (but deserved the nomination), rather it should have gone to Sandra for Gravity.

I never cared much for Liza’s win for “Cabaret”. That year and category was stacked. I think Diana Ross was robbed and some might say Cicely Tyson too. The other lady that was nominated also had critical acclaim. I think this was a gift for not wining a couple of other times and her name and lineage

I feel you. I believe Denzel, although was great in Training Day, there were many other performances he should have won for including Malcolm X. I think Whoopi should have won for The Color Purple rather than Ghost. I agree with your assessment of Green Book. Although it is a very important story in history to be told, I believe Viggo Mortensen's performance in that movie should have gotten the Oscar.

One of the biggest snubs and unworthy oscar wins in history was the win for Hattie McDaniel over Butterfly McQueen, who won for Gone with the Wind playing the same stereotypical Mammy role that she played in so many other films and this role is redundant & bland it was a historical role. However the Oscar win for first black actress in a supporting role should have went to Butterfly McQueen as her role was significantly more memorable and quotable and very funny so memorable, quotable, & funny that it was parodied decades later on the Carol Burnett Show.Butterfly McQueen was an incredibly intelligent black women at that time, she was an outspoken atheist & activist incredibly rare in the black community especially during that time period. Butterfly also had a significantly memorable high pitched voice in the movie that was memorable & very funny .She paved the way for black actresses that did not play the boring stereotypical roles she paved the way for black comedian actresses in film & she deserves that recognition. Hattie McDaniel won basically for all her collective roles as the Mammy but it was Butterfly that made a mockery of that role , her line “ I don’t know nothin’ about birthin no babies” completely went against the stereotypical roles of both the stereotypical roles of women & servants, it was a feminist line at the time. Hattie upheld stereotypes Butterfly defied them.

I bet the real reason behind you trashing Mary Pickford’s Oscar win & legacy is because she was in the film Birth of A Nation it also explains why you claim she bought her Oscar win and yyou admit you didnmt wven watch the movie all the way theough. kor have you likely watched any if her movies all the way through. Oh she was in Birth of a Nation and she was good friends with the director which makes her a racist and so who cares about her legacy as a female icon of the silent era & a feminist icon. I find your opinions ignorant & sexist.

Claiming that Pickford bought her oscar win and was one of the worst oscar wins if all time is an incredibly ignorant & sexist opinion. I support Mary Pickford’s win after comparing it to the other performances & the movies themselves. Pickford was a legendary actress for her time period & lived up to that reputation when it comes to her acting. While Jean Eaggles acting was great as well, I found the movie to be messed up, and her nomination was not even legit, so while it should have counted it didn’t aftee her death. Still Mary Pickford deserves the win. She was definitely paved the way for women in the acting business plus she worked behind the wcenes as well. Pickford not only was an female icon of the silent era but was a feminist icon as well.
