Thanks Richard, clear explanation, as you always do
ОтветитьHello, I'm watching from Sao Paulo, Brazil. Do you know a good AM tube radio Kit to recommend ?
ОтветитьUsefull video, thanks!
ОтветитьSuper
ОтветитьI like the transistor radio.trick, hopefully It I ever need it will work for me ,I bought a little radio I.keep next to my work area.either way Learn something new thanks.
ОтветитьA novice like myself wouldnt have found that problem ,nice save great video.
ОтветитьHad a fisher 500s with an open oscillator secondary transformer, removed silver mica, replaced with mica caps ,had to “unwind secondary about 20 feet to find the open winding resoldered had my oscillator! Albeit a bit off freq
ОтветитьFantastic, I learned a new trick with this video to tell how the oscillator is working. Thank you for posting this video. :)
ОтветитьGood catch on that wiring diagram snafu! Good tip on the oscillator check too. Thanks for sharing!
ОтветитьBig help, thank you
ОтветитьLiked and subscribed, thanks for the oscillator tip, very handy.
Thanks..........Ray H (From the U.K.)
I like the way how you show the schematic diagram in conjunction with the radio and the corresponding components you are describing and testing. I have learnt a lot how to find out if the local oscillator works and how to test with a simple portable radio as a "help" to find it. Thank you very much for this wonderful tutorial and practical lesson.
ОтветитьNice work bud . if i find a connection that i can touch and find a mains hum would it be ok to insert a normal line feed from a line out source ?
Ответитьsmall transistor radios are also a good way to test car remotes...held close to the antenna they. make static if emitting something.
ОтветитьGood information for us new guys... thanks for sharing your troubleshooting methods.
ОтветитьGreat Video, thanks for sharing!
ОтветитьThis is an excellent video. Your video techniques are very, very good.
ОтветитьAbsolutely the best videos on this subject.
Ответитьthanks so much for this video. please if possible please keep these kinds of vides going i so much enjoyed them i would is there anyway you would consider doing a series of these ?? I hope you would. Wonderful Great Job..
ОтветитьInteresting vid...I've been restoring radios for a long time, and I've never had an open resistor that didn't look damaged. I guess it just goes to show that anything is possible! This video also points out something else useful; for basic radio troubleshooting, no fancy test equipment is necessary, just a simple multimeter works fine.
Ответитьyup 8.2k was open most common thing in those old tube sets. i used to work on many sets in the 70s up 80s up .did tv repair ham sets cb amps. wide range learned a lot had much fun.
Ответитьthank you for sharing this seems like I run into more problems with resistors from the late fifties too early sixties than any other era
ОтветитьGreat Video, Thank you for sharing your knowledge!
ОтветитьThanks SpeakerFreak95 You didn't know you are giving me not only a radio but test equipment also. I think the weather will be much nicer tomorrow so I think I'll go down to the flea market.
ОтветитьThanks leemer12
ОтветитьThanks Matt Patoray I'm in North Carolina close to Raleigh
ОтветитьThanks Norman Walz
ОтветитьThanks Jjames Anderson
ОтветитьThanks Andy
ОтветитьThanks Douglas Tees
ОтветитьThanks ChrisWilson5006
ОтветитьThanks Jan Scheltes I have an isolation transformer. On the isolated side of the transformer I have a VARIAC. I have used light bulbs before and they were quite well. But today I always use an isolation transformer and a VARIAC.
ОтветитьThanks AMStationEngineer Stranger things have happened. The worst is a new part being bad.
ОтветитьThis radio is AM only. However the interference would also work if you put two FM radios close together.
ОтветитьThanks Jeffery Birchfield
ОтветитьThanks DENNIS N it is handy easy to use, and it works 100% of the time.
ОтветитьThanks L0WRYDER I taught software for over 10 years.
ОтветитьThanks ranuts2 I just bought a new camera, and the macro is really good.
ОтветитьThanks YQTFun
ОтветитьThanks Ron Pearson
ОтветитьThanks Dennis Hill
ОтветитьThanks tectalabyss
ОтветитьThanks Galo Freire
ОтветитьI really enjoy your videos keep them coming and thanks for sharing the knowledge.
ОтветитьA nice simple solution and some good troubleshooting tips! I heard you get WLW on that, are you close to Cincinnati?
ОтветитьThanks Rick!
ОтветитьThe best that I can tell, is that it looks military, and from the label looks like it was a tube set. From the video it looks like it still has one tube and it has been transistorized. That's about all that I can say about it without drawing up the wiring diagram. And since it is a custom modification to learn more about this unit you would need to draw up the wiring diagram.
ОтветитьHi Rick, do the pin numbers always go clockwise when viewing from the bottom? Awesome video!
ОтветитьExcellent video. Thanks for the troubleshooting hints.
