How well does a cheap USB to MIDI adapter work? (Fixed Video)

are you running the midi thru a Thunderbolt connected interface? How well do usb 2 Usb 3 and usb 3.2 work without thunderbolt connectivity? Is the latency good enough to play along with prerecorded tracks? What is a good Midi usb 3 or 3.2 interface?

I bought a different cheapo and while connection was easy, after a few bars of monophonic notes from my Yamaha V50 to Win 10 PC with Reaper, I get eternally hanging notes that just build upon every subsequent note I play. I thought it was my computer hanging but now thinking it's the interface. I've just ordered an interface box with good reviews (Nektar). Does my thinking it's due to a cheap cable interface seem reasonable. Hate throwing good money into bad.

I mean, why does expensive cables exist when they just have to do a passive conversion?
It's a midi signal from a 5-prong DIN cable into USB. It's serial to serial. It's standardized too, so there's no guesswork.

This is the only $10 usb midi cable that works with sysex. Buy two!

Can you hear the audio from the synth keyboard too or you still have to use a audio interface for that?
