You don't use Yamaha and ibanez guitars ? These two brands are very popular in India. I think for two reasons, Availability and cheaper price.
Ответитьtwo! only one can be played, unless you're an octopus
ОтветитьHad a 1970 Gold Top Deluxe. Shoulda kept it; such is life. LP Deluxes fly a bit under the radar for “vintage” guitars, so they’re around and not tremendously expensive. Really good guitars, in general.
ОтветитьI have a ‘69 SG Special (P-90s), and it’s my best playing guitar; perfect for my hands. I always play an electric guitar unplugged at first. I think you can tell a lot about it .that way, particularly the guitar’s inherent resonance. The day I bought that SG Special, I was knocked out by how loud it was unplugged. I knew right away it was a good one. Since I’ve had it over 50 years (bought used), I guess I made the right call.
ОтветитьThis is simple…. ‘just one more’.
ОтветитьI own a 1975 Gibson Les Paul Deluxe Burst that someone over the years had routed out for Humbucker's (Duncan 59 in the neck, Duncan Classic in the bridge) with a mahogany neck. I had the fretboard planned and re-fretted with smaller stainless steel frets. I also replaced the electronics (original pots were stamped 1974) with 1950's style wiring. It's killer, love the stainless steel frets it's the way to go for sure.
Ответитьten, because I have eight.
ОтветитьHOW ABOUT THE BASS GUITARS ( RICK 4003 ) ?
ОтветитьThanks Rick….I’ll have my wife watch this and then everything will be cool!
ОтветитьThat "Charvel" looks great
ОтветитьAwesome video. Really wish I could get dave to make me some guitars! :)
ОтветитьA partscaster, a cheap Les Paul with good pickups and a decent acoustic is all I'll ever need. Buying new gear only gave me temporary happiness. I actually take more pride in creating great sounds with minimal, affordable gear that others scoff at.
Bottom line, tone really is in the hands. I'd rather spend my energy developing my playing & writing instead of buying & tweaking endless gear. That's my 2¢
No such thing as 'too many guitars' - just too few rooms in your house - LOL.
Ответить@fivewattworld Keith is just shaking his head.
"Come on, Rick..."
One guitar is too many. A thousands not enough 😂
ОтветитьEvery time I buy one, my last words are, "This is the last one."
ОтветитьI always wondered what the wizard neck would feel like.
ОтветитьA fellow guitar player once told me that the answer to the question, “How many guitars are enough?” is just one more!
ОтветитьThe perfect amount of guitars to own is exactly one more than you have right now!
Ответить31, between guitar & bass 12 amps.
Ответитьit always amazes me how professional guitarists hand around their guitars to each other in the air like at 6.05 with abandon and never belt the necks into each other or hit the desk with them....i whack mine into solid objects every time i even move bloody hell
ОтветитьHow about a video on guitars you've had and wished you never sold, this brings tears to my eyes
ОтветитьI have too damned many guitars and I want to get a PRS guitar and nobody will buy my Gibson gold top 50s 2012 Studio. I guess I'll just keep it and buy the PRS
ОтветитьDave gets a headstock in the face!!
Ответить3
ОтветитьIt's not too many guitars. Was at a Jackson Browne concert a couple of years ago. He was doing acoustic set. Probably 20-25 guitars on stage with him. He joked about all the guitars calling it "an ostentatious display of guitar weatlh." Perfect.
ОтветитьI really like your videos. Joni Mitchell was favorite. Thanks for the great content.
ОтветитьThat metallic blue Les Paul is stunning.
ОтветитьOkay, if Jay Leno was into Guitars this would be it. Love this because I only really want one guitar. I can't afford more (well I sorta can if Uncle Visa is involved) and my philosophy is that all the best
guitarists I've heard in my life really mastered one or maybe a few guitars and just did genius work.
Thanks for this helping me decide.
Dave mentioned Barry Bailey. He's was the lead guitar player for the Atlanta Rhythm Section. Barry retired in 2006 cause of health problems. He passed in march of 2022. He played a couple of Gibson Les Paul Gold tops. Barry lived in Decatur,GA when he passed. I'm curious is his guitars will come up for auction or for sale. I got to meet Barry in 1994. He was a heck of a nice guy.
ОтветитьIf you can play guitar properly all you need at most is 3 that would be a 335 a Strat and maybe an acoustic 1 extra would be a Bass. All the tone now comes from a multi effect and maybe the pickups.
ОтветитьPelham blue les Paul’s are the some of the finest looking instruments on earth
Ответитьman i absolute love Gibsons the SG and the the deluxe and of course your dcs love it all day long
ОтветитьGuitars take on a Life of there own.
One tree.
Same wood.
One can ring like a bell.
Another.
A Dog.
Guitars have a voice.
Personality.
Been collecting for years.
Even today there are certain ones.
I think of that one.
Over time they seem to find me.
I love playing them.
Holding them.
Or just looking at them.
Amps are the other story.
Either you get it.
Or you don't.
I got that vibe .
First guitar I bought .
A Les Paul.
Custom .
Black Beauty.
Still Beautiful.
Rick, I noticed that you don't have, or at least not featuring, any hollow and semi-hollow guitars. I find it curious, since they are very common in Jazz, and you have an extensive Jazz background. Is it because you find the hollow construction redundant, and a solid body guitar, such as your Specials or Les Paul, can get the same sound, while being more comfortable?
Ответить5 minimum, but 6 is where I like to sit. I've learned to cull the heard. It's a disease.
ОтветитьWhen your wife files for divorce it's too many.
ОтветитьWhen your "favorite ", has dust visible from across the room.
ОтветитьI have a Les Paul classic, an American strat, a tele and a Les Paul special. Once I have a Danelectro I’ll be good. So five. Lol
Ответить1- dave is a kick ass player and a walking guitar encyclopedia
2- i love the way rick just loves music, whenever Dave pulls into a great lick you can see rick smile with zero artifice and just a love for the instrument- so many guitarist would just present a "damn" look in some competitive - i can't do that yet, type of way. not rick, he just loves it.
Anything over 100
Ответитьawesome video well done
ОтветитьIn my opinion that Charvel is the best sounding guitar that you have in all your videos
ОтветитьThe tendency we all have for wanting more and more different instruments has begun to strike me as a bit misguided. I’ve tried all sorts over 52 years. Makes, styles, novelties etc.
For my own amusement, I made some suggestions for which guitar big name players should choose and then stick with. If followed, they could all save a fortune and maybe buy even bigger mansions, cars, yachts etc, if they only had one good instrument to play on. The audience might even enjoy them more. Here goes: (all items factory made and historically conventional!…)
Clapton - SG,
Beck - LP,
Lee(Albert) - Tele,
Knopfler - Strat
Johnson (Eric)- SG
Mancuso (Matteo) - Tele
You get the idea. Try your own list. It’s a lot of fun.
That mini humbucker Les Paul DOESN'T DO anything Angus Young.
You're very mistaken.
Please stop lying to us.
You're not being believed.
You didn't make a van Halen guitar.
Your SG doesn't do anything Tony iommi.
You're very mistaken.
Fun video, major admiration.
Ответить"we're two Italian men with fine taste." Is what I heard in the intro.
ОтветитьHey that Gibson acoustic has a backward bridge, just noticed that!
Ответить
