Evolution of Age of Wonders Games [1999-2023]

AoW2 was better version. You could to exchange with enemies with artefacts/resources/buildings/spells.
AoW-3 (and newest) not have this piece/chip.

Look how they massacred my boy :( . AoW3 was the last game in the series. You could already tell how planetfall strayed from the other ones, graphically it became worse as everything blended together and you couldnt even tell details apart most of the time, and then they went ahead and took everything bad from planetfall and put it in the garbage that is AoW4

I never knew this game was a thing I just saw it on xbox store damn looks so good!

I love strategic war game, city building, developing an empire but this takes it to a whole another level with the fantasy creatures and fantasy vibes!

im so so interested in this game but I have some questions

is it completely online? like pvp?

so every player owns a kingdom? or is it against AI?

I enjoyed Planetfall, its what got me into the series and I hope they return to the Sci Fi setting again sometime in the future

Shadow Magic has to be the best of the series!

You just can't beat the 2d portraits of the leaders, goofy 3d models cant even come close to those portraits😢

The only series I know that never went to crap or got political.

This is a pretty bad video which doesn't really show how games evolved from one another with cities, magic system, diplomacy... Could at least have shown some spells.

I like how AoW is generally serious, but they have the occasional memes like the Dire Penguins or the poop-flinging baboons. Looking forward to 4! Just a month to go.

Thank god there is no Planetfall 2.0

Personal opinion:
The step from AoW1 to AoW2 was a step down in design. :)

Age of wonder 4 .OH yes

Age of Wonders 3 was such a big shock but I love all the new elements they introduced. The race+class combination system made it even more unique as well.

1 and 2 the best ever .
