Surely a proper and fair test would have been going to exactly the same destinations?

The problem with gps taking the fastest route is it can sometimes put too much traffic on roads not meant for a lot of traffic.

What i was amazed by is the fact that the passenger could say Jimmy Hendrix house and Tom the cap driver just knew where that was. You might know streets and such, but its really important to know landmarks and stuff on those streets, cause tourists coming into town wont know the streets, they will just say stuff like Jimmy Hendrix house. And so its incredible that Tom the cap driver can remember all these details and how to get there the fastest way.

this is a side point but google maps purposely puts you on the biggest roads even if smaller roads sometimes is quicker due to traffic. if google maps didn't you'd see people driving everywhere to get "faster" time. sometimes you gotta look at the map yourself to see roads that skip the traffic. because of this, i saved like 20 minutes a day skipping traffic

Gonna be honest, if a cabbie narrated their thoughts on the route they were taking and ways they could have shortened the trip I wouldn't mind an extra few minutes of travel time

I mean, i don't think its a fair test of if a taxi is faster, if you domt let him use the bus lanes like he normally can.

While i understand this is tom scott’s channel, so if he wasnt in the video it wouldnt make much sense, but i feel like this test was unfair. I know its al in good fun, but the fact that tom isnt a real taxi driver nor is driving a real taxi hinders him, like with the bus lane. Just saying. If they both used taxi drivers and taxi cabs while one only could use GPS and one only their knowledge, it would make it fairer

It took me till halfway through the video to remember London drives on the Left side of the road
