I have seen large pigs kill chickens many times

I wondered if that was going to happen... someone on the initial pig video warned pigs will eat chickens. I hope it was just an accident!

I can't blame the pigs...I like chicken too.It tastes like...chicken.

I was searching around as your video was on and most said as long as the pigs are well fed they will be ok but several comments I saw said once a pig gets a taste of chicken it is game over they will go for them well fed or not. Beware and keep an eye on them good luck and a thumbs up for you

Pigs WILL EAT CHICKENS. Don't care what breed they are or if they've whispered in your eat that they're really nice.
I grew up on a farm and currently live on one and I can say as certain as I can be about anything..your chickens will be eaten by the pigs.

Please dont tell us it was Bloody Mary that got eaten? lol I read that pigs will even eat their owners in the right situation, I wonder if the pigs will figure out how to climb the chicken ladder.

A crime of convenience. Believe me, grown pigs will eat your kids if they get the chance. I'm not joking.

I don't think the pig attack the chicken..chicken die and once the pig see meats(foods) not moving ..the pig will eat...even the chicken will eat the chicken meats..

I have always heard pigs will eat chickens, the bad thing now they have already got a taste...

Time to separate the pens.

Guess it comes down to reason of having such said animals be it pigs, goats, chickens, etc. Hobby, food or pet. Some animals can be mixed with minor issues generally where as others not. Trial an error does play part of everything and knowledge is power. Having pigs and chickens sharing living areas would of never crossed my mind especially if the chickens have clipped wings and can not escape an aggressive attack.. As a general rule for myself, I wouldn't mix animals that couldn't properly defend them self from an attack or have "safe" spots in the area where shelter could be easily attained. Seeing how the pigs done got the taste and learnt an easy way to get an easy meal, I'm afraid future loses of the chickens if continued to be kept together will inevitable lead to more loses. I'd separate them now if possible and prevent future unnecessary loses.

Find some old pallets.

My brother had pigs on his farm that were only separated the chickens and the pigs by a regular hog panel He saw one of the pig, granted it was a Duroc pig, but he saw the pig pull the chicken through that little hole in the fence before he could get to it.

Pigs that small don't usually kill things, however if they are dead, they WILL eat the carcass. The will eat bones that is what pigs do. Now wise to have certain animals together.

Why not just split the pasture area so they don't have access to each other?

Pigs don't have a reaction to being full. They'll eat and eat. Those guinea hogs will get too fat if you feed them grain all the time. You'll be looking at lard heaven. You can easily split the corral in two by running electric down the middle. the pigs will stay out of the chicken yard at least. Run two strands, one 6 inches high or so and another about 12-16" high. that'll keep the pigs honest. Thanks for sharing.
