Thanks for watching. I'm constantly trying to improve the [HLH] series, and I hope this lesser known but still amazing story doesn't disappoint. I'll be focusing more on these stories this year.
ОтветитьCan we get handwarmers made of these?
ОтветитьIt cannot be overstated how stupid these guys were to just find some cylinders that were radiating heat from seemingly nowhere in an endless amount and think “personal heaters… excellent.” Particularly once they realized they were very heavy for their size and even more so once they started feeling sick from them.
Ответитьconsidering the RTGs seemed to be dumped haphazardly in the middle of nowhere, far from any structures that initially used them, and not buried or contained in any way, I doubt these 3 guys were the first to experience radiation poisoning from those units.
ОтветитьWhat is the electrical output of an RTG? Could one power a house? Just curious.
Ответить"So they decided to spend the night in the forest using these curious objects as personal heaters"
ME: OOOOOOOUFFFFFFF
Imagine having little to no knowledge of radiological devices like this, and you unknowingly discover one. You assume nothing and hours later, you inexplicably start throwing up and feel worse and worse. This experience must be absolutely horrifying and I'd wish it upon nobody.
Edit: "nuclear" and "radiological" refers to two separate ways nuclear physics may inflict harm, so I clarified that
I watch your videos during my study hall period at school, this one is extremely interesting
ОтветитьSo I want to know how they got into the middle of the woods. Did someone stell the RTG's?
ОтветитьWhat about earlier whne he said 1000+ are unaccounted for.
The 300 are just what they FOUND
Over 20 years ago I remember watching a PBS show showing videos of crews like this recovering similar objects. The tools they used were much longer
Ответитьwell of course they were drinking vodka
ОтветитьBut how do they go from being worked on at a dam to scattered across difficult terrain/wilderness. How do they end up there
ОтветитьDon't touch the spicy rocks guys
ОтветитьRule 1: If you find something weird in a forest dont camp next to it
Ответить3 idiots 🙄
ОтветитьWell that should be 300 more shows for you to put out for us to see I've see all need more lol
ОтветитьGreat video but one thing of note. The generators Russia left were not dangerous unless someone opened them up. As they were, they posed no threat at all unless some person decided to start dismantling them.
ОтветитьWe humans think we are so smart….
ОтветитьMoral of the story
1. Maybe stay away from things that are unexplainably warm
2. MAYBE YOU SHOULD LABEL YOUR RADIOACTIVE SHIT RUSSIA???
Great video, Kyle...👍
ОтветитьGreat video Kyle! The tenets of nuclear safety is every HP (health physics) person's mantra not only for self protection, but most importantly for the protection of workers in the nuclear industry from the hazards of radiation and radioactive contamination in the air and on surfaces. I saw a post about human carelessness as a main contributor of events but really its complacency, lack of knowledge/procedural guidance and unintended human error that contributes to events...
ОтветитьThe last line is proof that if world war 3 happens, we all die. ALL of us. There's so much nuclear warheads with many countries that if war starts, it's going to be the single most worst thing ever happens to mankind, and also the last..
ОтветитьNuclear power is so safe that even being around a a radioactive source can kill you. Yaaay!
ОтветитьGeneral rule: if you vomit after a radiation event (not medical), your life expectancy is ruined.
ОтветитьHold on a sec😮 whatchu mean 1 a day 😮
ОтветитьMore material to feed my long lasting hyperfixation on Nuclear related incidents
ОтветитьI watched this video and adverts before the reaction video that sent me here 😊
ОтветитьFirewood?? Who needs THAT!? We have these nice compact metal objects; free for the taking! Nice SOOTHING warmth😋AAHHH!! - 😮NO SUCH THING AS A FREE LUNCH!!!😵😵😵
ОтветитьHe eventually left the hospital---in a BODY BAG!!!😮😮😮
ОтветитьI like how there are three broad categories for nuclear accidents.
1. Industrial radiography and medicine sources winding up where they shouldnt
2. Nuclear material production for power and weaponry
3. USSR
Well, I Was eating pizza, until the last photos. And 300 more just laying about, willy-nilly. I'll just stay in Oklahoma, thank you very much. Eye opening and disturbing
ОтветитьThis Is like bad when people die from radiation
ОтветитьSo the movie The Martian would've been a shorter movie when Matt dug up the rtg?
ОтветитьI really enjoyed this
ОтветитьGiven the danger of radioactive items and how hard it is to visually identify radioactive sources. Im surprised the police and government vehicles dont have built in geiger counters. Unless most sources cant be detected unless very close.
I can only imagine all the police vehicles having a geiger counter that everyone thinks is useless as its never gone off. Until one day through a typical suburban neighborhood it goes off and leads them to a certain backyard homemade reactor.
Or nuclear war head? Thats ok l thought
he said nuclear.........Jesus's christ!!!
Im from georgia and there was no news or any word for this accident 😮 i was shoked when i saw this video i cant beelive this was happened in georgia. (Sory for my english)
ОтветитьLoosing track of them is understandable in that political climate, however designing them with insufficient shielding is down right criminal - this accident was so incredibly foreseeable.
ОтветитьThis is why people neeeeeeed to all know the signs of nuclear power qnd what to watch out for
ОтветитьShoutout to those BRAVE men who, without any PPE safely retrieved the death balls. Wow!
ОтветитьI love pasta
Ответить...speachless... and shocked... and truly fascianted by this video!
ОтветитьSounded like the recover guy had an english yorkshire accent lol
ОтветитьShocking
Ответитьthat recovery process was so well organized
This is the perfect example to use when people ask me why I'm terrified of radiation.
Ответить
