I have an rtx 3050ti laptop gpu, core i7 and 16gb of ram, my laptop gets very hot when playing slightly demanding games (up to 80-90 degrees) and I crash in a lot of my games, I am thinking it might be the gpu, I’m fine with the performance usually it’s just the crashing mainly, do u think an egpu would help? I’ll give more specific details if u need them about my setup

Had the same problem with a coworkers gateway laptop at work. Came with an Intel CPU with an Nvidia GPU and for some reason would run slow as dirt on the eGPU enclosure. The HP version of the laptops (everyone else had) with the same CPU and same GPU ran perfectly fine. IT believed it was some sort of power saving option where the computer would default to the internal GPU even when disabled. They proved it by disabling the iGPU on an HP and the same gateway laptop but the HP laptop showed no display while the Gateway ran just fine. Disabled or not, Windows was using it.

how about my tuf gaming laptop that has rtx 3050 4gb dedicated ram and using egpu 3060 12gb? it is worth it?

I saw a m.2 to PCIe x16 adapter with no power needed. ALSO, I would like to use a GTX1650 with no power supply required, do you think it will work?

I guess one of the big advantages of eGPU would be if you're doing a lot of graphics work or long gaming sessions, heatsoak is a problem in just about every laptop and extended load on discrete internal GPU will saturate cooling systems and inevitably lead to throttling eventually. Offloading this heat to another enclosure can only help and means the laptop will only be handling the heat load of the CPU.

yeah it doesn't make sense to have Egpu but maybe you should add if you want to play games. I personally don't care about games and still need the maximum power of GPU

Displaying an eGPU on an external display would degrade performance a tiny bit, due to the bandwidth limit of TB3. I personally have a great setup with two AOC 4k monitors on an RTX2060 eGPU. Now my laptop (A Dell Inspiron 7706) has a dedicated gpu, but it's only an MX-series GPU, so I really benefit having the RTX2060 on my docking setup and I can seamlessly have a laptop for when I go to nursing school or just out and about and want to play a game or two and a desktop-like docking setup when I come home and do homework or game without having two separate PC's.

It does make sense with external monitor doesn't the data pass from GPU to CPU and back to GPU to output? With internal display it goes GPU to CPU and straight to display.
This is based on my limited understanding, but I believe the CPU has final display output.

I would bet the difference would be much better if you were using an older laptop with GPU GPU (say 1060 or mx-9whatever).

If it's not the case please correct me... always willing to learn.

Razer core GTX 1080ti + razer blade stealth 2017 8th gen. I still use this combination and it's killer! If you don't have your dedicated laptop with RTX on it

Didnt it occur to you that cpu might be a bottleneck? You get more performance on benchmarks because they basically use no cpu. Games use more so you get bottlenecked. 11370H isnt particularly powerful

eGPUs are perfect for 3D work, 3D rendering not gaming, if you want to game buy a PC, or the most expensive config you can afford ..

That E GPU box is larger than my whole PC...
