Yes of course we should reconsider the age of adolescence. Neuroscientists discovered that adolescence last until 25 due to brain scans, they discovered that 18-24 yos, and especially 18-22 yos have the same brain structure as 15-17 yos. Also female breasts aren't fully developed until age 23, and males reach their peak muscle mass at 25-30 and can grow a few inches in their early twenties.

idk this social science theory i’ve always been skeptical of. I feel data is bias. or maybe i am. i think “what kind of people did they interview” “or is it life becomes more steady as you get older so then the brain stagnates or “stops developing”’i think it’s always developing. i think teenagers have healthier brains because it’s more raw unlike the “efficient” brains that make it harder to learn new things.

Raise the voting age to 26. Also, let the 18 y/o join the military, but no war deployment until age 26.

So many people in this comment section are misinformed. The 'adolescent' brain isn't actually a thing. Brain is developing into your thirties and forties, and so on. Prefrontal cortex changes based on experience, the thing that happens in your twenties is the myelination of gray matter which doesn't have a specific age it happens at. Brains can still mature into their thirties and forties. You don't suddenly hit a random birthday and suddenly have a functioning brain. You just don't want the pressure of adulthood.

In my late 20s. Still feel like 17.. A trauma had ruined my life at 17. Haven't managed to recover from that. Still stuck at 17..

I think society already consider under 25 an age of coming out of adolescents and working to become an adult. Hence the term “college kids”

In that case, think I turned 25 when I was 8.

Yeah that's not what the science actually says. Clickbait headlines with such absolutist interpretations of the scientific literature is detrimental to general scientific knowledge.

I noticed that first hand when I went to parties with people older than me(22) 24 year olds pretty much the same they party without much thought but hanging out with 25+ yr olds they seem more concrete in themselves with what and where they are going to be honest it was sorta intimidating.

As a teenager, I Acknowledge this information, it’s just I’ve always been the type of person to not allow my emotions to get the best of me, I mainly try to look at the logical side

I used to believe that by the age of 25, I would have reached maturity. I don't feel or act any differently now that I'm almost 27 in October. I'm not sure why I felt mature for my age when I was 20-24, but a lot of 25-29 year olds still act like children. What I'm trying to say is that you decide when you want to start acting like an adult.

Turned 25 last week, and it feels no different from turning 24 or 23.

I'm 28 with big responsibility for family. With loan and credit card payment owing blah blah. Still it feels like teenager nothing is changed neither the practical experience of life like police arrest and lots of other things nor adulthood responsibility!

when I turned 18 my parents were like “your finally an adult” and I was like “I don’t even fell close to an adult” I finally felt like an adult when I hit 25
